How to Save Money While Traveling - Page 2

Free is a key word. There is always something free to do while traveling. There are many museums open to the public at no charge. If you are couch surfing, ask in advance if your host will take you around the city to show you the sights. This way, you've just landed your own personal tour guide instead of someone jabbering your ear off with a scripted history of the city you are visiting. Unless it is the coolest tourist attraction in the world, try to avoid commercial tours because they are too expensive when you are on a tight budget. Instead, look for activities to do for free, like visiting public beaches or walking around city centers.

Student discounts are great to take advantage of if you are in that category, so do not forget to bring your student I.D. Look for any type of discounts to cut costs for yourself and make sure to ask locals for the whereabouts of discounts and specials. Search for Student Night at bars and clubs to save money on nightlife.

Keep your traveling costs low by following these guidelines for your next adventure. Traveling does not have to be a bank breaker if you actively seek out ways to save money on your trip. You do not have to be rich to have fun while on vacation, you just need to get creative.
