For fun, my sister and I, both huge Disney Channel fans, like to predict which Disney Channel stars will become the next Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton. Both of us had Vanessa Anne Hudgens as number one on our list. And, guess what? We were both right. Pictures of Vanessa naked were released on the Internet.
She had everything going for her. High School Musical 2 raked in 17 million viewers. She has a very successful album out. She was named "Choice Breakout Star" at the Teen Choice Awards. She is seen on many magazine covers, including People. Plus, she's dating one of Hollywood's hottest guys, Zac Efron. Why ruin it?
Vanessa's target audience is preteens. This sends a horrible message to her audience. How is someone supposed to explain something like this to an eight-year-old? Plus, she's a Disney star. Disney stars have the image of being clean cut. People like Miley Cyrus and Ashley Tisdale, two of Disney's biggest stars, aren't seen doing this.
She should know better. This happened to Paris Hilton a couple of years ago and it was horrible. All celebrities should know not to follow that example. The leaking was an "accident." I've got news for you, Vanessa. You're eighteen. You're old enough to know not to do idiotic things like this, especially being in the public eye. Don't trust anyone with something as valuable as your body. Ever.
Whatever. It's too late now. Vanessa has admitted that's it her in the photo. (Believe me, it is. I've seen it. Accidently.) She says, "I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos," she said. "I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."
You aren't getting my support, slut. And, fine, anyone who wants to call me out on calling her a slut, do so. She is. Who knows who's looking at this photo?

I agree with you that Vanessa should have known better. I think she'll learn for this, but I'll never be able to see her the same way I did before.
In the August 2007 issue of Teen Magazine Vanessa said:
"I’m a good kid. I’ve been brought up with very good morals and I’m not going to go out and do something I don’t want other kids to do. I love being a role model because, in Hollywood, there aren’t a lot of role models to look up to. The fact that there’s a whole bunch of good kids coming out who are now stepping into the limelight, I’m very proud of that."
That statement seems hollow to me now.

From what I understand, the majority of teenagers in the US are having sex. Is having a nude photo taken what makes Vanessa Hudgens a slut?
Girls are taught through magazines, TV shows, etc. to become obsessed with their appearance and being sexy. The Disney girls, for example, are often gorgeous, with perfect bangs and lots of makeup.
Is it surprising, then, when girls graduate from staring at themselves in the mirror, primping and reapplying lipstick for hours, to wanting to have nude photos taken of themselves? People are naturally interested in their own bodies and in confirming their beauty and sexual appeal.
What seems worse than what Vanessa has done, is the overreaction of the media and people telling girls that these photos aren't just a mistake of hers - isn't just a stupid mistake - but also makes her a BAD person, who should be punished! Who's career should end. What, are we living in the Middle Ages?
The girls writing in the comments seem pretty smart to me. They know that her behavior was stupid, and don't want to emulate her.
But if girls get the idea that Vanessa's behavior makes her BAD, then they might feel they can't talk to their counselor or a parent about sexual pressures in their own lives. And that's much worse than what Vanessa did.
Was it a stupid decision? Yes. Should she be ostracized, hated, and her career ended because of it? No. She's not a bad person. She just made a mistake.

You're completely unfair to be labeling her a "slut". If you don't like her acting, that's fine but these pictures we're obviously meant to be private. Even if they were not, they are outside the realm of Disney and her career. She is a grown woman and has every right to do what she wants.
As far as I know, she hasn't asked to be anyone's role model and although I agree that it's difficult to explain naked pictures on the Internet to an 8 year old, it's certainly not difficult to explain the importance of individuality.
Grow up with your opinions and stop judging others based on what you think may be "slutty".

I also think you are being completely unfair with your judgement of her. First of, those pix were taken 2 years ago before she became famous with HSM. Second, they were meant for private view of someone she trusted who betrayed her. I am more upset with this person than her. We have all done something stupid that we later regret. Our advantage is that we are not celebrities and our mistakes are not made public for everyone to judge.

i am so disappointed in vanessa. i loved her and i enjoyed liking her and being a fan. i cant look at her the same anymore. its so sad. i really really loved vanessa because i thought she was the one young actress out there who was going to stick by her morals and stay out of stuff like that. i thought vanessa was a really good person. im still a fan and i just hope vanessa will apologize publicly about this, not just have her publicist do it for her. i want to hear it from vanessa. i wish people would stop calling her slut and just being plain mean. she made a big mistake and let lots of fans down but who knows, maybe she will get herself back together. have a little faith people!

Alright, first off, I believe we are entitled to our own opinion, so if she wants to call vanessa that, that so be it. Who are to judge impartially on someone's POV?
