Brokeback Mountain co-stars and Academy Award nominees Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams might be headed for a break-up in the near future.
The New York Daily News is reporting the two lovebirds, who share a child together — 17 month old Matilda — had a huge argument after Heath was spotted around a hoard of women on Valentine's Day at a popular L.A. night club called Teddy's.
Reportedly, he wasn't doing anything too inappropriate, but some say Michelle is still very angry with him for going out and partying on Valentine's Day while she sat home with the baby.
It's possible things have cooled down between the two of them since they were spotted on the red carpet together this past Oscar weekend at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Ledger's next upcoming project is a film called I'm Not There where he, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere, and Christian Bale will all be playing music legend Bob Dylan.
The film is written and directed by the brilliant Todd Haynes, and Michelle Williams is also starring the project.
After that he's playing The Joker in the next installment of the Batman franchise called The Dark Knight, where he will again co-star with Christian Bale, along with Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

In the month of February, Mr. Ledger was in Los Angeles to unveil the very first performer for his new music label, Masses Music, a young Australian singer by the name of Grace Woodroofe. After having flown Woodroofe and her mother to L.A., Mr. Ledger spent the month promoting her music around town and escorting her to her performances. The evening of Valentines Day was simply a manager showing his new performer and friends a night out in a new city.
Ms. Williams stayed behind in NY to attend Fashion Week.
Heath returned to NY to get her and the baby, and they flew back to LA together for the Indie Spirit Awards.

The gossip columns just love to make huge leaps with no substance, because the facts aren't as interesting. LOL

One thing is to be working and another to be partying. Grace Woodroofe is his sister's friend and she has been in Los Angeles for nearly 2 months now so it's not like she had just arrived and he felt obliged to show her around, er, on Valentine's Day. Yes, I believe he could have been working on her video or something, but how about in the evening, why did he have to go partying knowing that Michelle is in New York 'not partying'. I think he is getting sick of tired of Michelle who tried to trap him with the baby and force him to marry her. Yes, he might wear a wedding band, but he HASN'T MARRIED HER AND WON'T MARRY HER because she isn't 'the one'. She better get used to this from Heath, he's young and has had several 2 year relationships. The fact that she got pregnant within 7 months of meeting him doesn't give her the right to think that she owns him now - she decided to get pregnant, not him. I hope Karma teaches her a lesson and he now leaves some other clingy deceitful bird pregnant.....

Ms. Woodroofe was in LA for a little over a month. It's still a strange town, a different country, and she doesn't know anyone but her manager, Heath. So he's there to do her promotion and Michelle's in NY. And because of that, Heath & Michelle were not in the same city on Valentine's Day . . . . . . so people are suggesting that he should stay in the house, eating a tv dinner and watching Jeopardy that evening just because it's Valentine's Day?
It's ok for a guy (even in a relationship) to go out and socialize platonically as long as he behaves himself. And the original source of all this gossip (Ben Whiddicombe of the NY Post Gossip section) admitted that Heath was doing NOTHING inappropriate.
Now I hate to address this, because I can't STAND this very topic . . . but I'm going to.
I'm so sick of reading people say that Michelle got pregnant on purpose just to trap Heath.
It's nasty.
And judgemental.
In reality, no-one has any idea or proof of any of that other than internet rumors from snarky gossip columnists and jealous so-called "fans" who secretly hoped they would be the one to snare Heath.

I would NEVER make that assumption or judgment about someone I didn't know personally. It's nasty and unfounded.

Some may really want to believe that Michelle is some evil woman who got her claws into Heath and tricked him, but maybe people should honestly ask themselves why they want to believe it so badly? Why are they so jealous and hatefilled toward this woman whom they've never met?
Listen to Heath if you want to know the truth: He has said he falls "deeper in love with BOTH his girls every day", that he and Michelle "talked about having children very early on in their relationship", and that he's "happier than he's ever been", that he loves his life now and how grateful he is to Brokeback for bringing Michelle into it. They have both said that "the seed" of their family was planted when they met during Brokeback. (They mean that metaphorically.) By all accounts, he's very much in love with her and loves his life; this man does not feel trapped.
Who is anyone else to say who's the one for him? Take him at his word.
He knows who's right for him and who he wants.
So now the NY Post gossip section says they had an argument. But here's the thing: WE DON'T EVEN KNOW THEY REALLY DID.
There is only ONE source to all this, and that's the above NY Post. Everywhere else you have seen it on the internet has just taken this one story and run with it.
Any speculation on what the "alleged" fight was about is simply that, speculation.
Any speculation about Michelle trying to trap Heath is just judging someone based on your own personal prejudice.

To #4 I say AMEN TO THAT I could have not said it better. I agree with you 100%.
I like both of them. I think her hair cut is cute and made just for her. Probably is good to have the extra time with your child than spending time fixing your hair. As you know if it was still the way it was and she went out with it not fixed fancy then that would just give the gossips more things to complain about. But HEATH is so hot, good looking, and a supurb actor. Of course when he is getting ready to film a movies then he gets put down for looking pale or his hair does not suit people. They just can not win.
You get put down if you are in the public eye all the time as if you are a bad person and at the same time if you don't want to you are a snob. They just can't win. They both said at one time they always try not to smile all the time or look good when people are taking their picture on the street so that maybe they won't publish them. I guess since they are private people can't find anything to say so they take little things and blow them up so they sound juicy.
I think they are trying to give Matilida a normal life and not get in all the hype. Maybe they don't want her to turn out like a couple or more I could name. Which I wouln't because I think it is wrong to gossip about people even when you think they are being wrong.
I just get so tired of all this. Maybe they are going to be one of the celebs that stay together for a long time. Who cares if they are married or not ( although I think they are). I also don't believe for one minute that Michelle forces Heath to wear a wedding ring.

I'm Australian and I think I know a fair bit about Heath and his love life because I have been following it since he made 'Two Hands'. Well sorry, but I disagree with the posters who don't believe she got pregnant on purpose etc. Heath Ledger introduced ALL his girlfriends to his parents and spoke with them about having children together 'at some stage' and made them think it was all serious. Especially with Heather Graham, Christina Cauchi and Naomi Watts. Naomi was devastated when they broke up and said that she now realised that 'he just said the things I wanted to hear'. Therefore, that he wasn't serious about what he said, just tried to keep her happy by saying what she wanted to hear. What makes you think he wasn't saying those same things to Michelle too, re having babies etc??? I repeat, he has spoken about babies with ALL his girlfriends. I'm not saying he didn't speak about it with Michelle, I mean so what if he did, that is normal in Heath.
Just before Heath broke up with Naomi Watts (yes, and I believe it was after meeting Michelle as they met in pre-production of BBM, way before shooting started in June) she had done an interview where she said how her and Heath wanted to have children and had spoken about it but they were waiting for the right time as their work schedules were so busy. Then there were reports from sources claiming to be friends that said that Heath thought he was too young to have children. What he told his 'girlfriends' doesn't mean was what he really thought or meant. He isn't a guy to be trusted, he was with Christina Cauchi (Aussie Model) and had spoken about how serious they were and how she was the yin to his yang etc, and then suddenly he meets Naomi on set of Ned Kelly and dumps his yin - just like that. Christina was a girl he had dated before and when he broke up with Heather Graham and got back with Christina he said that he had to get back with her because he just couldn't get her out of his mind - like as if she was his true love. He even said she was. What I'm saying is that the guy is young and falls deeply in love, then falls out of love as soon as he lusts over some other bird, as he has done over and over again.
I think Heath did fall deeply in love with Michelle, but that's his way of falling inlove with somebody. He has fallen deeply inlove with all his girlfriends. That doesn't mean they were 'the one'. Michelle didn't give Heath time to find out if she was the one he really wanted to have babies with, because, bingo, she got pregnant within 8 months of dating.
Think what you like, but I think she planned it and did it on purpose. A girl her age who left home at 15 knows all about contraception, and especially an actress wouldn't jeapordise getting pregnant just like that - unless she planned it.
Yes, I'm sure Heath loves Michelle, and loves his baby etc, but that doesn't mean he thought she was the one, I'm sure he would have wanted more time to find that out. Oh, and of course it's normal to fight etc, and it's also normal to break up if you find out you are not right for eachother, so only time will tell if Heath and Michelle are right for eachother.
Lastly, Heath has said many times that he believes in having children but not in marriage. So what that does mean, that he doesn't believe he can be a husband. His sister has said that they are not married and that they aren't even engaged, and I believe her.

Wow, Aussie that was really great. We finally found someone who apparently lives with Heath and Michelle so that they know exactly what goes on in their private lives and their every thought. Don't presume that just because you may have seen him or think you really know him that you know what goes on behind closed doors.
Neither one is to young to be in love and be parents. Did you ever think that the others he was not ready yet. I think that most people after dating for awhile introduces them to their parents and discussing a family is a normal conversation when you are dating and think something MAY be serious. Also, it takes 2 to get pregnant and if one does not and they do not make sure of protection then I say they were a willing partner. I'm sure they both know were babies come from and how to stop it.
You can tell he is an extremly good father and husband. Why else would he take so much time off to take care of and bond with her when he was at a height in his career. LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!!!
The only things I see about them that are bad are what gossips write. Why don't people make sure that something is right before they start spreading rumors. I can't even say 100% of what I am saying is true. I DON'T LIVE WITH THEM AND CAN NOT READ MINDS.
I met and married my husband after only 7 months and we have been married for 43 years. When I first saw him and before I even knew his name or who he was I knew that I was going to marry him. Have you ever heard of love at first sight. I would do it again in a minute.

It may take 2 to make a baby, but it only takes 1 to "forget" to take her birth control. If you think women can't accidentally (or in this case "accidentally on purpose") get pregnant you are very naive.
BTW, when it comes to relationship trouble rumors, gossip mags are right more often than not. But, i guess if you are a fan girl you believe celebs and their PR people always tell the truth.

Yes, I am a fan, but I don't believe they are perfect and that anyone is wholly truthful or sure when it comes to celebs. I also know the PR people are only going to let you know what they want. It is all gossip until proven true. I was not born yesterday. I was just trying to get accross that no one (including me)knows what goes on in peoples house and minds, but since you said on purpose that she got pregnant you must be one of her personal friends that she confides in. I just like to give people the benifit of the doubt until I know for sure before I say something about them (good or bad).

He sure seems happy to be a Father to me. And since everything must be right for you. This comment is ONLY from observation and comments that he, HIMSELF has made. For example that he falls more and more in love with his girls each day.

Are you sure Heath had met Michelle in pre-production?
I recall an Ang Lee quote that had Heath frequently asking when Michelle was due to arrive on set in Canada. I was led to presume that they hadn't met prior to on-set.
If Heath didn't wish to raise Matilda he could have dumped Michelle & paid her off quite handsomly as he's much wealthier than most people realize.
Did Michelle's Fundimentalist Christian roots play a role in her not seeking an abortion if her pregnancy was a "plot".

I am like you Cyrinda, I think that they said when they were on Oprah that they had met on the set. I can not say for sure though unless I rewatch the show. It is on youtube.com
I also heard somewhere ( which MAY or MAYNOT be true) that they were getting pregnant because they wanted the baby and also would like at least 5 more. All this COULD just be rumor like anything else.
I can't truly say because I do not know them personaly but they seem to be a very happy couple and I do hope they are one of the ones that make it for a long time. Look at Goldie Hawn and how long her and Kurt R. have been together. (for an example) I just really like them together and hope they do.
It is really hard to predict about them because they like to stay out of the limelight and want to live as normal a life as they can.

Yes they met outside the carpark of a production company. For several weeks before the June shoot they were all in Canada for rehearsals etc, and Heath and Jake went to the mountains to be trained in herding sheep etc. Because he had met Michelle before all this, he kept asking Ang when Michelle was set for shooting during this period, because he had already met her that day in the carpark, probably in early March. If you search in youtube and type in 'Heath Ledger and Torgen' you will see the interview he did where he says how they met before filming started. Torgen asks him, 'you two met on the set, right? and he says 'No, actually we met outside the production company's car park' ie. before shooting in June. Apparently he makes it sound as if it was love at first sight, how he felt 'one big click', so obviously, just like he did to Naomi with his ex Christina, now it was Naomi's turn to be dumped for another.

Looks like Heath wasn't that into her, hey? So all the rumors were true, that the couple were on the verge of splitting up, as they did after he finally dumped her in the end of August 2007. A fact is a fact, and the fact is that he never seemed that into her, and the last few months of their relationship they were never spotted together and when they were they seemed totally miserable. You guys who thought it was a 'real love story' and that Heath was really inlove wtih Michelle were all mistaken. FACT.

RIP Heath. As for the speculation on Heath and Michelle's love life. The way I perceived it was that Michelle was probably like all the other girls, he fell deeply inlove with her and out as he did with the rest. The only difference was Michelle was the only one smart enough to get pregnant. So now, after all is said and done...she will always have a special place in Heath's heart, as the mother of his child and not forgotten, like the rest. Michelle...you go girl, I would want Heath's DNA in my baby too.

In light of Heath's death, I think one can reflect upon what they perceived as a "deception" and a "trap" and see it for what it really was: Part of God's plan. Only God knows our destiny and in hindsight God saw it fit to bless this world (and Heath's final years) with this blessed child. I hope you can all look at this now and see that Michelle's actions, whatever you thought of them, brought a piece of Heath into a world that would be left without him. God only does thing for the greater good.

I had always hoped they would be the ones to make it. I THINK that he may have loved her more and did not want to leave. It is only a feeling because only they know what went on in their life. Everyone else just imagine from what they read. As you know most of that is made up. I do think he was depressed over the whole situation. As far as insomnia, Michelle said he had that ever since she had known him.
Since he had to go, i think it is good that he left behind a bit of himself in Matilda. She is so precious and beautiful and I hope she does always have some remembrances of him.

Well as it turned out Heath had fallen inlove with model Gemma Ward and spent a very happy Christmas with her in Australia which was only marred by Michelle not allowing Matilda to spend it with him. It also turns out that Michelle is inlove with Spike Jonze and seeing that they worked on a film back in 2006, and later again in 2007, I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't started dating then and that Heath and her were already over by then.
