It has been a dream season for a bunch of boys who live and play baseball just a few miles from my home here on Oahu.
Today, the dream of nearly every American boy came true for them as they defeated last year's World Championship team from Curacao in the final game of this year's Little League World Series.
The team from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, took the early lead, gave it up and fell behind 3-1 in the top of the third inning. Back-to-back homers in the bottom of the third tied the score at 3-3.
In the fifth inning, Curacao took back the lead with two home runs of their own and held that lead, 6-3, going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
A bunt, a single and a potentially inning-ending double play ball that arrived at first base just half a step too late, allowed Hawaii to tie the game 6-6 going into the seventh and last inning.
Ewa's pitching held the defending champs scoreless in their half of the seventh.
The dramatic game then came to a sudden end as Hawaii's Michael Memea walked up to the plate and hit a lead-off, walk-off home run over the left field fence.
Hawaii is very proud of her boys from Ewa Beach. The coaches and parents have been "class acts" and have shown the world that the word "aloha" can be used in the same sentence as "World Champions!"

CONGRATULATIONS to Ewa Beach Little League for winning a stunningly exciting World Championship game. All of Hawaii must be very proud of these young sluggers - just as the rest of the mainland. I am so thrilled for those boys, their parents, and their coaches. I've never screamed at the TV before until today while watching this Little League World series.
Aloha

I watched an amazing game today. It was one of those where it was too bad someone had to lose, but I'm happy it was the kids from Hawaii. That's the way the game is supposed to be played!
Thank you for a thriller and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

If only the Major League Baseball players they idolize could play with such dedication, purity of spirit and class. Oh yeah, did I mention these Little Leaguers do it for no money at all. To the team from Hawaii and all the other champions that made it to Williamsport, you inspire us and remind us of what it is like to be young and so much closer to godliness.

I am not a big fan of baseball because it seems like a slow game. There was nothing good on TV until I seen the name Hawaii on it. I am an island girl, who is now living in Indiana. Watching these boyz play, reminded me of watching my high school football games. The game gave me "chicken skin", and that is the best feeling of excitment. I was sqeezing onto the arms of my couch, and every play made me jump out of my seat. Thanks for the thrill ride guys and CONGRATULATIONS!!!
aloha and alofa'aga from HOOSIER the state!!!
