Going Back To Cali, to Cali . . .

Too many to link to, but the "meme" spreading right now across the politically left portion of the blogosphere is that Repubs are being hypocrites for supporting Arnold because actors (read Babs, Dead Woman Walking, and Bob Roberts) are stupid and should have no voice in the political debate.

Not to put to fine a point on it, say I am the only bee in your bonnet . . . Talk is cheap. Arnold is at least putting it on the line by running for something. I would say the same thing should Capt. Willard ever decide to put himself before the electorate.

Willard: Are you crazy God damnit? Don't you think its a little risky for some R&R?
Kilgore: If I say its safe to surf this beach Captain, then its safe to surf this beach. I mean I'm not afraid to surf this place, I'll surf this whole fuckin place!

Thankfully, Arnold is a Riordan-style moderate Republican who will most likely end up raising taxes if elected, since no California Republican can risk alienating Hispanics; and they are strong advocates of increased spending on social programs.

    You heard it here first.

How is Arnold anything but a liberal? What one conservative position has he ever held on any issue?

"Thankfully, Arnold is a Riordan-style moderate Republican who will most likely end up raising taxes if elected, since no California Republican can risk alienating Hispanics; and they are strong advocates of increased spending on social programs."

This will cause even more businesses to leave the state, which will further drop revenue and cause either larger deficits or cut programs for lack of funding.

Arnold is a joke... no matter WHERE he stands.

I think he is trying the Ronald Regan thing...

But mostly I can't stand him, or his movies...

"This will cause even more businesses to leave the state, which will further drop revenue and cause either larger deficits or cut programs for lack of funding."

Where are they going to move to--Nevada? They won't have any customers. Nobody but a prostitute would live in that dreary moonscape.

No study has ever shown that taxes and spending are a primary cause of capital flight. There are many other factors as well.

Arnold will not want to raise taxes. He'll just be forced to. Unions are rising political force in California, and as we all know, they bring nothing but collectivism and socialist levelling. Which is why I love them so much. I can't wait to chafe under the weight of an oppresive central state.

Even Rush Limbaugh says Arnold is no conservative.

These are all good comments . . . but, I am disappointed that nobody gives me credit for stringing together such disparate parts of pop culture.

Hey, I'll give you credit for refering to Martin Sheen as a character other than President Bartlett.

"Thankfully, Arnold is a Riordan-style moderate..."

Boy hasn't that been proven wrong.
