Gmail swap list: what would YOU do for a Gmail account?

Turns out there are lots of people willing to do all kinds of shit to get an early adopter Gmail account.

Gmail started giving them out to selected individuals last month, and already they're a hot commodity.

Gmailswap.com is one marketplace; according to yesterday's Washington Post story, eBay's got some on auction for $70 bid currently.

I guess I'll just stand in line with the rest of the great unwashed for mine.

I mean, do I really need yet another email address? I've already got five.

That'll do for now.

Besides, I'd bet on UCLA being around longer than google.

All you have to do to get a Gmail account is get a blog at Blogger. That's how I got mine. I just clicked on the little link in my Blogger template and shazam! Just like magic, my very own Gmail account. Perhaps Blogger should use Gmail to market themselves. They might get more subscribers that way.

True, John. And, I haven't even bothered to use mine, despite my chronic full mailboxes on other services. Maybe I should. Lord knows Blogger makes me suffer. Any compensation is a plus.

Tried that, however I apparently have not been a blogger long enough, really want a gmail account, so I guess I'll keep blogging and begging.

Got my first Gmail lesson, today. Do not try to use Gmail and Safari, together.

What link is that, John? I am scouring my Blogger account pages and don't see anything about gmail. Where specifically can I find this link? Thanks.

Mine's on my Dashboard when I first sign in, bottom right. It says, "Want Gmail?" then you click on a link and it sends you to the invitation to get it. Maybe I was wrong. They may have given me one, hoping I would review it. I do post a lot on Google. I guess I'll have to review Gmail sometime soon.

Still no luck finding a link on my blogger account, and believe me I have looked quite well. If anyone could email me the link or an invitation it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -- Brian BrianEMT13@hotmail.com

looks like you have to be considered an "active" blogger by Blogger to be offered it. At elast, that's what i figure from reading what it says
    "Want Gmail?
As an active Blogger user, we would like to invite you to try out Google's new email service, Gmail.

Would you like to give it a whirl? Yes, please.
    "
the "Gmail" is a generic link to the Gmail site, whereas the "yes, please" is a link to the invite to try it. I will do so cos in this limbo between finished exams and waiting for results, all i have to do at the moment is job hunting
