These glow-in-the-dark fish were the hottest thing a month or so ago, when they were introduced in the U.S. As I recall, they sold for $25 apiece at first. Now the price is $5-$10, with no bottom in sight.
Said fish breeder Larry Tagrin, in Sunday's New York Times:
- You're going to have dozens of dozens, maybe hundreds, of these that kids have no place to get rid of. They are going to be in aquarium auctions, they will be in club auctions, they will be trading them to their local pet store for a box of fish food. By autumn, they will be selling for a dollar each because of oversupply. I don't see this as being more than a flash in the pan.
