recently there have been one or two posts about art here at Blogcritics, so i just thought i'd bring this rather cool site to the attention of any of you who have not yet seen it (and at the end, pimp my gallery there =+):
Deviant Art
Deviant Art is a site that hosts galleries. Who can submit work? anyone - it's free to signup, although there are various paid levels of accounts (to, for example, get rid of the ads that show when you login). Most importantly, you don't have to pay to submit your work. Although I would recommend that if you join, you sue it wisely. Even though i've been very restrained in what i've posted, if i'm honest I have gone a little overboard, considering i don't do much with my photos beyond a little touching-up (and i've only got a few other pieces on there).
Any kind of art, from "traditional" stuff on paper all the way through to prose and poetry, can be submitted, and although there are many categories and sub-categories to choose from when you upload, there is still a "other" (equivalent) sub-category always available, so you are unrestricted in what creatinos can be uplaoded. You can even upload "mature content" so long as you select the option.
And whilst there's alot of stuff you'll probably not notice, there is also a great deal of talent around on the site. Some of it consistent, and some of it less so.
i'll start you off with this guy, whose gallery is full of highly-detailed, mostly greyscale, pictures (that's hand drawn, not photos)
Oh yeah, and finally, there's me. Some photos, a few drawings (biro and pencil) and a coupla poems. hell, i never said mine was worth going to...lol.

Interesting. You know, I've heard of deviantART before but not sure why I never bothered to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
Oh and more art posts are always encouraged (at least by me if that means anything). It's one of my favorite categories to read here (despite them being far and in between).

shark, of course there is stuff on there that's, well, not of high quality. But if you look, there's actually rather alot of stuff that IS of high quality.
But you have to be bothered in the first place. I simply posted this because i have no idea how well-known the site is outside the circles of those who are already members.
