The New England Confectionary Company (NECCO, now you know where that silly name comes from) has been pumping out the same candy conversation hearts you see today since 1902. Now they originated in 1866 when Daniel Chase, brother to one of NECCO’s founders, came up with the idea but at first, the candies where in various shapes and the sayings printed on paper.
Over 8 million of these little babies are sold every year during the valentine season making these candies one of the best read pieces of literature out there, right behind fortune cookies.
