First, Great article/quiz, although I might be a bit prejudiced.
I am not sure how you get 220 miles to the length of the Florida Keys. From where US1 enters Key Largo to Key West is 106 miles. Key Largo continues about 10 miles to the north. From Key West to the Dry Tortugas is about 70 miles. This adds up to about 190 miles. I guess you could include the islands in Miami Dade County leading to Miami Beach, such as Virgina Key, Key Biscayne, Elliot Key etc., and that might add another 30 miles. But those islands are not usually considered part of the Florida Keys.
