The continuing adventures of the man known as Duke de Mondo have become something of a Blogcritics legend. While long known for his wildly exuberant yet frantically soothing forays into music, film, and politics in his native Northern Ireland, The Duke has of late turned his distinctive voice toward journeys more personal.
The Tragic Saga of Harry Potter Woman is a classic and masterful capturing of that girl on the train who might have been. Reflections On Spring 2005 is an emotional and hilarious reckoning with the past while reaching out towards the future's promise. Cult followers of The Duke's Mondo Radio podcasts are already familiar with the hilarity, anguish, and pop culture maelstrom under which Our Humble Narrator resides.
Now we are graced with a new Duke, a new cohort (the illustrious Sir Fleming), and new journeys across battered and mad cityscapes. 72 Hours Raw in Dublin is a searing vision into the fiendish Irish night, a kaleidoscope of manic laughter, propulsive imagery, and haunted dreams.
Take the first step with The Duke and you're sure to be transformed and twisted and liberated come the other side.

Good call EB. Give it where it's due, and The Duke is well deserving.
Still scanning for part 4...

Thanks Bennett -- just pointing to The Duke's stuff and trying to say Hey You Should REALLY Check This Out in a cleverish manner.

Added Part Four and some Amazon links from Parts I and II to add some authentic "atmosphere"...

Hey folks, a wee note is all, case you been wonderin. the tale will continue soon, i been away the past week. No, no stories to tell. But part 6 of THIS story should appear in the next couple days.

More adventures de Duke, yes!

This pleases me. I have been hoping for this. Oh, and another podcast but now I am just being a greedy dick. Or, actually not. I just want the master to put the student to shame where podcasts are concerned.

Duke, I think a reading of the saga would make good podcast fodder. These narratives are very 'aural.' You could do a segment per episode... or hell, do the whole thing in one profane sitting. Either might work.
If you don't... I might have to do the second worst Irish accent (Brad Pitt from 'The Devil's Own being by far the worst I have ever heard) and read them on my podcast. We don't want that.

ha, DJ, such antics would be pushing this even further into the realms of the ghastly.
For real, why would you want to hear such a thing?
oh, an a wee note if folks missed it or anythin, Part 6 is now here on Blogcritics also.

I guess the reason I would want to hear such a thing is because I feel like I already do. Having listened to the Mondo Irlando podcasts, I have a voiceprint of you in my head. The way you write each of these pieces... I am sure there is a technical literary term for it... you write these as if you are sitting here in the room reading from those pieces of notebook paper. There is an unmistakable auditory quality to each of these pieces. It's kind of like certain songs just 'scream' to be played live. There is a rhythm to your writing - the rawness and all - that I think would come alive in 'audiobook' fashion.
Of course, having to relive all in multimedia fashion might not be great for you but sometimes we have to suffer for our art, yeah?

heh, i can stand ME sufferin, the sufferin of OTHERS is where the trouble lies.
but thank you man, it means a lot that you get that kinda vibe, since thats what im, well, not consciously aimin for, but HOPIN for when i read it back an stuff.

Or you could read it as Brad Pitt doing his Gypo voice from Snatch...
Great movie, that.
Man, just the thought makes me laugh.
My wife, a French Canadian, would understand even less than a single word.

Part Six added, Duke. I must admit I'm a ways behind -- must put myself into the properly receptive mode and get up on this tale of woe and wonder!
