Perhaps someday Rodney King's poignant lament will take hold.
In the meantime, at least in the virtual world, different world views exist side-by-side - or is that not really a good metaphor anymore? - quite nicely, thank you.
Lisa Alcalay Klug wrote a most informative article for this past Tuesday's New York Times about the recent appearance of religion-centered food websites.
There's SederOlam.com, which helps you find kosher sushi restaurants when you're traveling.
For Muslims, there's Eat-Halal.com and Zabihah.com.
I've written previously about vegetarian websites, among them VegDining.com and HappyCow.net.

I don't believe it! Someone is decent enough to write about how to find food that is ritually pure for Jews and Moslems - the article sits there untouched for nearly a year - and gets a comment like "u guys have a dumb and stupid website. Pease and i mean please delete it. ALso your website smells like poop".
It must take one hell of a sense of smell to detect manure coming out of a computer...
I don't know if Book of Joe has left Blog Critics or not, but he definitely gets my thanks for his piece. Should I have to ever travel to the States or Europe, he has done me a fantastic favor.

brings to mind the best scene in the movie "Raid on Entebbe"
the hostages are being held in the jungle of Uganda, and some of them are sick from the food...two middel aged jewsish men from New York notice it...but also note that a handful of Hassidim are ok
one askes the other how he knew the food was bad after he points out the Hassidim are ok...
he says...
"in New York i might have a ham sandwhich...in Uganda, i keep kosher"
both figuratively and Literally, that bit of Wisdom has stayed with me
your mileage may vary
Excelsior!
