So it took a long fucking time. What are you going to do? Have you come to expect anything less?
Anyway, this is it. My best of 2005 podcast. With a fuck and a shit (or 12) I countdown the Top 10 Albums of 2005. Actually, this podcast is slightly less profane than previous podcast episodes on account of there being more music and less DJRadiohead. It's a shocking development but not a trend. I, along with the fucks, will return in Episode 11. Oh, and this podcast was recorded on Apple's brand new iLife '06. The production value of this show has like... quadrupled or something. There are bells. There are whistles. Big Boy Radio!

just got to the Otis Rush bit...and want to say that the lack of back catalog on cd is one of the great reasons to own a turntable.
there are mountains of great records out there that'll never see the light of day again. at least in digital land.

That's a good point, Mark. Of course, the Wife to Whom I am Married will not be overjoyed at the prospect of me finding another way to collect music.
Out of curiosity... how difficult do you think it would be to track down some vintage Otis vinyl?

You can only imagine how much of the Otis on CD I have came from eBay. I had forgotten about gemm.
You need to get a hold of Right Place, Wrong Time. It is still in print on CD (so you don't have to scour eBay) or you can look for vinyl. It is, perhaps, my favorite electric blues CD ever. I listened to our favorite acoustic blues disc last night while uploading the podcast (Muddy Waters' Folk Singer).

Mark, that is a good album. Don't let the critics dissuade you on this point. There is one song on there I think is hamfisted ("My Old Lady" blows) but the rest of the album is magic.
His cover of BB King's "Gambler's Blues" is slap-somebody good. He also does an instrumental version of an old Aretha Franklin song. The album was recorded not far from me (Muscle Shoals) and Duane Allman sat in on rhythm guitar.

I get paid to listen to it, or rather I listen to it while I get paid. But I am with you, Brother Saleski. Getting paid to listen to music... that's not a job. It's Heaven.
Otis Rush has been one of my real pleasant surprises. I went into 'learning' the blues with having heard his name in passing. I have now become a full-fledged fan.

DJR: I'm supposed to be in a perfect hibernation of carbonite right now. But I decided to poke my head out just to say that my abbreviated listen of this episode sounded good... very well balanced between voice and music, dig the added effects, and I'm glad to see that the new GB is helping you produce quality material. Keep at it, man.

Mr Sahm, thanks so much for coming out of hybernation for to listen to the podcast. I had fun with some of the new features in GB3. I'm still just a boy trying to become a man when it comes to sonics, though.
I still need to learn about that filter of which you spoke. I have some ideas floating around in my head for that.

Thanks to Otis Rush, Saleski, and Sahm for helping me make this a Hot Topic on the front page of BC. Yep, I am a traffic whore and that's part of why I comment back on my own threads. Anyway, I just saw this was on the HT section up front.
Right now, with the recurring features not on the front page of BC it's a little tougher to find some of these recurring items.
