Courtney Love Plea Bargains

Being that I stand — or more typically while using the computer, sit — in judgment of all I survey, I will tell you I briskly applaud the plea bargains arranged for Courtney Love today.

Why the applause? She will not go to jail but will be forced to seriously get her shit together, which should be to the benefit of society and her own bad self.

Last April Love stumbled upon a 32-year-old woman sleeping on a sofa at her former boyfriend, producer Jim Barber's home, and reportedly threw a whiskey bottle at the woman, pulled her hair, pinched her breast, and chased her menacingly with a flashlight.

Originally charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, she pleaded no contest Thursday to a reduced assault charge. In the deal with prosecutors, she agreed to anger management counseling, three years probation, perform 100 hours of community service, pay a $1,000 fine, and attend three Narcotics Anonymous meetings a week for a year.

Deputy District Attorney Gina Satriano said, "Due to the defendant's history with drugs and her anger control issues, we're pleased this sentence addresses extensive drug treatment and anger management counseling."

Last July, Love was sentenced to 18 months in drug rehab, closing one chapter in a troubled saga that began when she was accused of trying to break into Barber's home in October of '03 while high on cocaine and in possession of oxycodone and hydrocodone.

Her guilty plea today to a misdemeanor count of possession of a forged prescription disposed of the two felony charges for possession of oxycodone and hydrocodone. Under THAT plea bargain, the entire drug case will be dropped in 18 months if she completes a rehabilitation program.

Justice was done: the danger she poses to society is directly related to her chemical abuse and anger - these sentences force her to directly deal with these issues, hopefully, for good.

    "hydrocodone"

Powerful stuff. I was once prescribed this med after getting all 4 wisdom teeth removed...at the same time.

It's highly-addictive. I was only given a month's supply, and I still felt some withdrawal symptoms afterwards.

Also, I learned later I was friggin' ALERGIC to it. Good thing I didn't get fully addicted, then...

I always thought the greatest danger to society posed by Courtney Love was when she played music...lol
