Why is Casey Anthony so coldhearted and cavalier about her missing daughter Caylee?
Casey Anthony has finally been indicted for the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. Casey is a sociopathic, superficial sensationalist. To a mental health professional, she fits the description of someone with an antisocial personality disorder - just a fancy name for "sociopath."…

Hi Barb, thanks for your comments by the way.
I want to address one of them in particular though, on the bit about receptionists having that personality because they have to talk with 'buttheads' all day, it's not just because of that..
They acquire that kind of personality (while on the job) because they become conditioned to not getting emotionally involved with the people they're interacting with, it's a learned response. That's why it's quite similar to sociopaths whom also have no emotional connection with people they interact with, their type of personality is also learned response.
So even if you're not a butthead to a particular receptionist you still might get that superficial kind of response because they're used to not being 'emotionally present' when talking with patrons.
Same thing happens with politicians on the campaign trail after shaking hands and making small talk with THOUSANDS of random people everyday, it's only natural to lose your social emotion capacity and you just have to start 'faking it' after a while.
While sociopaths have no social emotion capacity in the first place.

Please Tell me what you think about this
At first I wondered about this. Could this be coincidence No this is to much this cant be coincidence especially in light of the new information regarding the description of the Nanny being the same as the description of the actress who played the Nanny in the 100th episode of One Tree Hill and Now see informations regarding Caylees birth date below.
This was a well thought out premeditated murder.
In her original written statement Casey claimed to have dropped off Caylee between "1 and 9" at "Sawgrass" Apartments at the "steps" with "Zeniada Fernando Gonzales"
I know you have already heard this scenario before as I certainly did not come up with it but I am wondering how much weight you have given it. I think if you have passed it off as coincidence it should be revisited.
4701 Hopespring Dr. Registered to Fresdesvind L. Gonzales
4709 Hopespring Dr. Registered to Zenaida Almodovar
Hence "Zenaida Fernando Gonzales" Check out the maps on this page
Caylee was found almost exactly between these two property lines Between 1 and 9 Is there not sawgrasss in this location??
"Steps" Were those the pavers??????? Leonard Padilla said there were also pavers where Caylee was found..
Casey said, "I have given everyone the same information." everythings the same to a "T "
The above two homes are at the corner of Hopespring and Surburan drive making the T. (I think the T was across the property lines across the back of the adjoining two properties. But it was one or the other locations
Caylee is close to Home or was she saying Close to "Hope" (Hopespring Dr.) (listen to jailhouse tape again between her and Lee)
Caylee Born 08/09/05 If you put in 8905 Suburban Dr. in Google Earth. Guess where the location is. This is just way to much coincidence.
828 - Ellen
Casey had a to get rid of Caylee. Caylee was getting older. She could talk now. She could tell. Casey was running out of lies, money(or places to steal from) and eventually frieds. I believe Casey gave this act much consideration.
I also believe that Casey will throw anyone under the bus in order to get out of this. I would not be surprised if it will be Cindy and George. After all it was the family she was trying to protect all along "right"
The "Nanny" translation "babysitter" translation "her mother, Cindy" was going to "teach her a lesson" but would return Caylee on her birthday. So if Caylee was in care of the "Nanny" translation "Cindy" why should Casey be worried. She could go out and party, because she knew the "Nanny" had Caylee. And Nanny said I could have her back on August 9th.
Oh well but Caylee ended up dead in December. Well, Casey is sitting in jail for months and the "nanny" didn't return Caylee as promised.
Well, now lets see, who is that Nanny again? Well now I guess Casey doesn't have to protect any one now. Lets see who shall we pick... ennie, meanie, minnie, moe
829 - Barb
Ellen, this is an extremely complicated and clever scenario. I must say I am intrigued. You are no dummy, that's for sure!! However, I have a hard time believing that Casey is so sophisticated that she would actually put this puzzle together in this manner. The reason being is because she has been so sloppy and careless leaving skads of physical evidence and does a horrible job covering her lies.
But YOU, my dear, are brilliant. I mean that sincerely.
830 - Ellen
Barb, This is not my scenario. Somewhere I stated that. I just wanted to make that clear. This came from blinkoncrime.com She is the brilliant one. At first I didnt think Casey was that smart either until I heard that she used the same description for (her Zenaida Gonzales) as the actress who played the "Nanny" in One Tree Hill Episode. But anyway dont forget Casey lived in this area, she knew these places and these people. Now I cannot believe this is all coincidence it just cant be. When I first heard this I got a chill down my spine.
831 - Barb
Ellen, ah, yes, I see where you noted you didn't come up with it. Sorry 'bout that. I watched on TV today or yesterday about that episode of One Tree Hill that Casey even looked up on the Internet. Ellen, this portion is not directed toward you, but I have to say it in general. Seriously, whether she looked this stuff up, whether the numerology has anything to do with her direct and personal intentions (which I highly doubt), this chick Casey killed her kid. And for everyone who keeps freaking out about people being innocent until proven guilty - this is applicable in A COURT OF LAW. Out here and any ole' where we can say or think whatever we want. We're not stupid zombies. Holy crap. The woman killed her kid.
832 - Midwest mom
Unlike everyone else on this blog,(or any blog for that matter) I don't believe Casey killed Caylee.
From day one, we have seen casey's phone conversations, the pictures of her parting, her interrogation videos, and on and on...
the seed was planted in our heads..casey did it! she is a sociopath! she lied! she was parting when the babysitter had caylee. She didnt work for two years. SHE is the murder right? THERE is NOONE else that can be considered as murderer.
the seed grew, nobody questioning, demanding other leads. THE majority thinks she did it so why shouldn't we believe Casey is a murder also?
AND lets not forget her behavior! the way she speaks in interviews, to her parents, she smiled in court, she doesn't use the right tone of voice that a mother who lost her child should use. She wants to talk to her boyfriend, She doesn't grieve correctly! and she LIES.
She is not you. She doesn't speak like you, think like you or act like you. She is NOT you.
Let me see an interview and interrogation of someone else that could have taken Caylee. Perhaps the interrogation of the only witness that "gave" casey the shovel and "seen" her digging in the back yard. Had access to the comings and goings of the Anthony's, have they been inside the Anthony's house? lived very close to the location where caylee was found. Let me see THAT interview and all of the other interviews of people who could be a suspect. Are there any other interviews?
Let me see the interviews of everyone who could have had access to the car for the two weeks it sat in a lot. Has all of the people who's finger prints were in the car, questioned? were there unidentified finger prints? was finger prints taken?
Have you googled Zenaida Gonzalez, babysitter? try it..very interesting.
DO NOT google cloroform
Dr? Do you think it is an uncommon characteristic of a sociopath (if that is what casey is) to put so much obvious evidence (pointing directly to her) with caylees body?
It would be very sad if a young girl, who lost her daughter, got the death penalty because of others perception and experiences.
just MY opinion!
what you do not like about another person, is exactly what you do not like about yourself.

Midwest Mom, I appreciate that you must speak your view and be counted.
It's not only the hardest thing to understand, which perplexes everyone, but if you disagree with the masses or whoever is dominating this blog you will be flogged, a flog blog.
The collection of data tells me a different story than you believe but I do appreciate your opinion. It's just too hard to imagine isn't it? You made me think today, thanks.
I agree with your last remark, sometimes true for me!
The reason I don't believe what you believe is because dead or alive, Casey did not behave as if she had any concerns, dead or kidnapped to anyone nor did she act responsibly and that is unforgivable. Her timeline of lies are also hard to digest. If these are lies, what IS the truth, that's where I get confused, she has never actually admitted anything close to a 'truth' just denied the eventual allegations.
None the less, I appreciate your opinion.
I have the same hard time believing in the Sandra Cantu case, something just doesn't seem believable. I think there is more too is. The police also messed up by not having an Amber alert, I can't help thinking they were too quick to solve the case of the century in Tracy CA. Something about the grandfather and his church evidence makes me uneasy.

Hi,
Quote from Dr. M's article:
"Sociopaths create their own reality, and in this instance, Casey’s world did not include her daughter."
This was written long before the playing out of the 'nanny story' as we have seen. There are clues now fitting together that may point to Casey having created herself a 'role' as 'nanny' instead of 'mommy', such as the resumé typed up by Casey for herself, that George talked about to investigators, and in which George claimed that Casey had listed the legitimate time she worked for Universal etc, but then for 2006 she had listed as her occupation 'Nanny'. George questioned her about this, saying that made no sense because you don't list that on employment history without having actually worked as a nanny.
The 100 Tree Hill video clip I saw for the first time the other day, shows a striking similarity to Casey herself, the hair she had grown out to the above shoulder length dark brown version, the general facial features, then there is the description of the nanny that was clearly idealized, the perfect 10, perfect teeth, just like the perfect looking people with perfect looking smiles, in Tree Hill.
Could Casey have been purposefully thinking of herself as an employed nanny who was looking after a child named Caylee, the stealing from her mother by credit cards especially, as her salary or right to reimbursement for the child she may not have wanted but that her mother did want?
Does this fit what a sociopath would do to explain their own behaviour or legitimize it, or to make their responsiblities more paletable (she's doing the childcare as a job, as a business for herself, so the role playing of loving mom for the cameras and friends, was just that-- her 'job'??)
Thanks, seems this could be a possiblity of how Casey coped with the boredom of childcare and showed the so loving side towards her child for appearances, all part of the long term plan.
Thanks
835 - Barb
It's so interesting how we are all trying to piece together what Casey's motives were. In my opinion (for what it's worth), she either killed her kid accidentally or on purpose, but the main reason it happened is because she wanted to party, just like Scott Peterson didn't want to be tied down. We can psychoanalyze all the live long day, but it seems like she just simply didn't want the responsibility. When I was 19 or 20 I wouldn't have wanted it either, but the difference between me and Casey is that I didn't have circuits in my brain misfiring that would even remotely suggest to off my baby. Like Dr. J said, ASPD is still in its infancy so it is very hard to say why she would do such a thing, but it all points to excessive self preservation. Just like every other sociopath.
All very interesting hypothesis though. I love reading everyone's thoughts.

WOW! This place is great! I did not know until today that somewhere existed where I can read up on an educated point of view and discuss with others how wild this case is! Where do I start? In a nutshell I guess Barb's comment above says it all! I completely agree! Is everyone writing here a doctor? I am just a regular girl who can't believe it either. My parents would completely come unglued at any one thing that girl did, let alone kill the grandkid. I feel like I have to watch my friends more closely now to my sure they are no capable of this kind of stuff.
I like reading everyone's thoughts too!

Hi, Sandi,
I can't speak for anyone in here except me and I sure am not a doctor! Lot's of us just speak our opinions, experiences, thoughts in general. A lot of the folks in here gather info that we would not have othewise seen so it is very interesting!
839 - Sandie
OMG I am so embarrassed, I thought you were a doctor! How do you know so much about this like a professional?Casey Anthony just freaks me out but I haven't read enough I guess. What is ASPD? Is ASPD something that she will use as a defense to excuse herself from this crime?I just can't imagine how freaked out her friends must be knowing they hung around with her even after she did the evil deed. Her boyfriend must be like non sexual now! I wonder if they will be on a reality show after the trial too. Thanks for welcoming me, I didn't know if anyone would talk back to me without a PHD! This is so so cool, when the trial hits we can be like talking on this huh? Bye Sandie
840 - Barb
Sadie, you are so cute. This is just a blog spot to chat our thoughts on what movites Casey. ASPD mans Antisocial personality disorder. She is a sociotpath. Once you have been exposed to one you larn a lot, but they are such prolific liars that they can get you again. I am not a psychologist, but I've had my life's lessons from criminal minded, lying, snaaky, controlling S.O.B.'s. Dr. Julian might be able to help pin point what you are looking for!
Hope you are having a good night!

Caseys defense will so likely include ground breaking in the courts, early on talk of checking the baby's body for genetic disease.
Brain imaging will be a good part of Casey's defense, that's why she can't answer anything at all, she can't be given the chance to explain anything that might be credible and why her lawyers and famiy do not want to plead.
842 - Sandie
I don't understand, are they going to say she had ASPD and pleed guilty or are they going to say there was a memory part missing from her brain? Can they see in a MRI if your memory is bad or if you are nuts? Why would they want to test Caylee for a genetic disease, to show her mom gave her bad genes? Bye Sandie
I don't know enough to "go live" thanks Kitt!
I have a good question though that's not as stupid as the ones above, how the heck are they going to find a "clean" jury? I mean, if it's someone like me I would not offer enough brains to decide something so important - where are they going to find smart people without an opinion?
843 - Chickenbutt1957
Sandie,
Not many times have I laughed out loud reading this blog, but your last post made my hubby look at me as if I were crazy! Juries don't need to be smart. They just need to listen and use their God given common sense. As to opinions...we all have them. The question is, can 12 people set aside their opinions and form new, possibly conflicting ones from their original opinion, to come to a just verdict? Did any of that make sense...lol?
844 - Sandie
Thanks CB, but hey, here's what I'm thinkin. I would not want me or someone like me to decide something so important. If it were me on trial I would want some smarts on the case like Barb to really think hard over the decision and knows alot about people, but not if I were Casey. So where are they going to find 12 Barbs with no opinions and extra time to live in a hotel for a year with creepy strangers day after day? Maybe if they paid well some out of work attorneys or accountants would ask for the job instead of 12 random people who could be god knows what in real life (The really boring part would be that you could not talk about it after the trial day ends too which to me would speed things up for the taxpayers). I don't know about you but if I were in trouble, I would not want to be judged by the morning shift at McDonalds, these people misunderstand EVERYTHING!!! Casey will get a hello kitty prize instead of being let free! Can you just see it, the judge asks what the verdict is and they don't speak english and give him the "boy toy"!!! Then the jury manager steps in and offers to give her the trial for free because of the wait and cold fries in jail! I'm stupid.
All the Barbs have enough evidence in the news already to figure the whole thing out, a NO brainer! It's not like the OJ trial, I read about that, that was racial support for OJ a great symbol of american black culture and the defense played on it even though it was unrelated. Unless Casey's hoochie, lying, horny, push up target bra wearing, homie girls who work as bar-hos for free drinks are going to rally nationwide in support of her weird non explanation and provide the upset card for the hoochie queen who would kill just to get more free time, I just don't see where they are going to get anyone smart and fair to listen to the whole thing like they haven't already made up their minds today! Unless, they have a reason of their own like a book or because they are horny old guys who just wanna "watch" Casey! I'm stupid.
Am I making sense now or is your husband still laughing?!!
Can I just say this - it really bugged me when she rolled up the sleeves for a fashion look to match her jeans on her missing daughter's T-shirt. Am I alone? I think it was knotted at the side too.
Go easy on me, I'm new.
845 - Sandie
PS - I noticed Casey's face is breaking out a little and those chocolate bars seem to be adding up.Do you think they are telling her to put some poundage on to play down her looks or that's just what happens to you when you are in a jail cell?
Wouldn't it be a SCREAMER if she showed up with her prison guard girlfriend (like a Lindsey Lohan). That would screw everyone up huh?!!Can't ya see her butch girlfriend staring at all the jury when they try to talk about Casey being slutty!!!The butch girlfriend with a mohawk can give interviews about how stable a girl she is!
That's it!That's their defense! That's their upset card!Casey is suddenly a lipstick lesbian!!Not to put down any LL, I just think the idea is kind of funny but as you know, I'm stupid so I say stupid things.
OMG! Bye Sandie
846 - Sandie
Because I say stupid things does not mean I think Caylee's death is anything funny. Im just a babbling dummy sometimes and I think this case is WAY FAR OUT and my mouth is full of flies since July of last year because I haven't picked up my jaw yet.
This chick and her story is just unbelievable.
847 - Barb
Sandie, I think you are funny and have some very intelligent and thoughtworthy things to say. As as you can see not everyone agrees in here. I've had my posts deleted before so don't think you are so bad! Sometimes there are misunderstndings in how people take what you say and they freak while you sit there scratching their heads trying to figure out what on God's green earth did you say....just pay them no mind....trust me on that one!
848 - Barb
Sandie - P.S. - I am not a psychologist by any stretch and I've said that before in here a million times, however, I have been victimized very badly TWICE by sociopaths so I feel that my experiences have given me some insight. I can kind of predict what and how they will behave because I've seen it in spades, but this is only because I have seen the hell they have put me and my family through. Here's a tidbit of info that I think is worth mentioning. BOTH of the sociopathic offenders told me they had cancer. One of them came into my life with that story so I felt like I had to stay with him and not leave him alone with his affliction (lying bas***d), the other one went out on disability from her job for having breast cancer, which turned out to be a lie. She is in some kinda hot water right now.
Anyway, sometimes life lessons teach you more than any book can.
849 - Chickenbutt1957
Sandie,
In no way was I trying to belittle you or your post. I find it funny that you say you "ask stupid questions" when in reality you make some excellent points. IMHO, you are far from stupid or dumb. I just think that they will find a jury, how unbiased, I have no idea. You bring up a funny mental picture of a jury of Casey's peers. Will they all being wearing American flags, peeing in the courtroom? Your description of Casey is on the mark and again, you found a way to inject a little hmor in an otherwise humorless situation.
850 - Barb
Have you guys seen on the news Casey walking in slow motion in plain clothes with her hands cuffed behind her back being escorted by two officers? In this particular shot she is wearing a blue short sleeved hoodie type shirt with the number 82 on the front. Today I saw something on YouTube showing Casey buying a bunch of stuff at Target with other people's stolen money. That shirt was one of her purchases!!!!! Hello, does this mean anything to anyone out there? I would be so ashamed of myself I wouldn't wear that shirt in public let alone to any kind of court preceedings. It is absolutely flabbergastingly obvious, in your face, haha hahahaa I ripped you off and bought this shirt with your money type attitude. She has no conscience, people. She has NO boundaries and no conscience!
851 - Sandie
I get your courtroom scene. Who do you think would play Casey, Winona Ryder? Winona would be shop lifting bras waiting for the Target scene to begin filming Casey buying the store out with stolen checks. Then fade to courtroom where Casey is posing for group smiley hugs pictures making the peace out sign with the jury gang etc. It's going to be a circus do you think courtroom tv will be showing it or they will keep the cameras out? I will watch with one eye open but who would wanna know all the terrible details. I would have nightmares.
Do you notice they have made this all about Casey and not about being HORRIFIED about little Caylee? No they can't bring her back but the WHOLE WORLD IS FREAKING OUT - why isn't her own mother.
She's toast.
What's IMHO? Seriously, I don't know what it means!
Yeah Barb, I bet Casey still has her friends borrowed clothes too.Sorry your life lessons were so bad, you can probably relate to Casey's friends and how they must feel so freaked out and betrayed. I would like to see a comparison of lies to all these people on the courtroom walls like a giant spreadsheet highlighting all the overlapped lie areas in bright green or something.I just think that would convey the case to the jury well as a visual that is logical because by the time they listen to this garbage their heads are going to be spinning. Is that weird? I hope your liars are far far away now.
Bye Sandie

Hi, Sandie,
The problem with sociopaths is that if you are a decent person who doesn't make a living lying, stealing and deceiving people at this level it is hard to know in advance if someone is pulling a fast one. Iam GLAD I don't know beause that makes me so not a sociopath. However, my guts tell me things all the time and listening to my gut is key. This current thing I am going through, oh my word, I am confident that this woman wishes she was never born. I have left no stone unturned to expose her to the community. However, since sociopaths have no shame, remorse or guilt, I am fairly confident that she thinks I'm the one who has the issue. Well well well, in June she has a jury trial over some kind of felony she committed (again) and this is directly after she has her day in court with me. Seriously, I could show you her wrap sheet, but I don't know if we can give personal email addresses in here or not.
854 - midwest mom
Hi Sandie,
A jury member would have to be able to determine what is fact and what is information, for instance... It is a fact that Casey worked at universal studios. It is information that she did not work for two years. And actually in this case the facts are very limited and it will be up to the defense to fill in the gaps. Doctors and lawyers on the jury? possibly. Not because successful people are smarter, they do not have much interest or time to spend on this topic.
I love your posts they brought up so many great topics. I couldn't help but notice how many times you pointed out that you are stupid, when in fact you are NOT. "labels" like the heading of this blog are very dangerous. When we hear labels over and over again, we believe they are true and they become part of our personalities our reality. If we are told we are lazy..guess what..we become lazy,we become what we are TOLD we are... The great thing is we ARE NOT our behaviors! behaviors can be changed, once you are aware that you carry those labels around. Start telling yourself you are smart and stop labeling yourself stupid and you will see a big change in yourself
"label=liar" Casey probably lies. My guess is she has been called a liar for a very long time, maybe since a very young age and so it would not be abnormal for her to take on that behavior as part of who she is and possibly for other family members also.
Another great point you made is that you stated "My parents would completely come unglued" I have read other posts stating that they would have done this or that to Casey is she was their child, I believe one even said she would pin he son down until he told her what she wanted to hear. Casey stated from the beginning that Cindy would have a bad response. Irresponsible? yes! Logical? NO! However Casey never cut the apron strings from her parents, lived on her own, took care of and provided for herself and child "responsibly". Like a seventeen year old sneaking in past curfew afraid to get caught, she was afraid of her parents response. Fear no matter how unjustified is fear. I am no way minimizing the situation by comparing the disappearance of your child and sneaking in after curfew. only that her mindset was more of casey as the daughter to Cindy (because she has been in that role longer) more so that the mother of caylee. And from observing the dynamics of the family and the e-mails between Cindy and her brother I can see where fear could be a factor for a child/adult.
855 - Sandie
Hey again! Thanks for all the kudos on my ideas!I am not low on myself I just joke around so no one thinks I am trying blow smoke up their noses that's all. My self esteem is in check, but thanks MOM!!Just like a MOM!
I just ramble off my noggin about not much sometimes but I do wonder about what qualifies you to be a juror, especially about such an important case.I used doctors and lawyers, people who seriously educated themselves as an example of who might be a good candidate for a juror but I want to explain this more seriously.I don't think anyone without a great understanding of what should be a good and successful life is, with as much life experience as possible, good and bad, knowledge of how to consider and resolve complicated problems with a thorough understanding of the legal system that is designed to protect the innocent and society, and also someone who has suffered greatly causing much introspective depth of character should be considered. 12 random people is just not good enough anymore, this is not the settlement of pilgrims or new england and living in the world is way more complicated than when those simple laws were written. Also, some simple minds did aquit OJ because of that glove not fitting right?Do you think they were all smart enough to absorb ALL THAT EVIDENCE that was give to them in all those different sciences? That verdict from what I read was more a popular opinion than a well considered verdict.
Someone, who can make a truly responsible judgement about a life is not just any regular person, to me, or, IMHO this SHOULD be decided by the most brilliant people available -not just whoever is not busy enough to get an excuse from work or whoever wants to get a long excuse from work or their lives or those that would profit. No one should profit from being on a jury, ever either, I think that would get rid of the opportunists.
So blah blah blah....and blah blah blah...............
Nutshell,me or my friends would be bad choices.I would be crying everyday and not hear anything and my friends would be checking everybody out in the courtroom and be distracted. How many friends do you know that watch courtTV. Me either.
As far as your theory on Casey being afraid of her Mom yeah, I agree totally. BUT, but, but, but, she should still be able to answer a straight question and DEMANDED to answer a straight question about the smell of a dead body in the damn car. It's just hard to brush that under the rug at most houses.
Maybe Dr. J can tell us if the prosecutors will get the advice of psychologists or psychiatrists to ask the questions in a way that will break the nut on the stand so she confesses all finally.
Barb, I have had some scummy friends but yours tops all with the cancer, unforgivable.I had a horrible friend that used to drop me all the time to hang out with whoever the "leader" was in the group and then bounce back to me when there was no one else.Eventually I ended the friendship with her when I had a special time, but actually was talking a lot of smack to everyone when a true friend would have been happy for me,she was undermining a best time in my life for no reason, jealous, destructive person to have around and only liked me because I am smart and she could repeat me alot. She is a fat gossip and all that I thought was private was how she made secret best friends with everyone!Everyone I thought she hated because of all the aweful things she confided in me with were actually the people she was divulging all my secrets to!All about being popular,no true friendship at all.Everything to her was ladder climbing,I was a stepping stone. So when I got tired of it once and for all,she managed to compaign getting everyone's sympathy that somehow I victimized her after she did so much for me(only I don't tell people when I do about 1000% more for a friend or embarrass nd favors and favors and support in confidence when are low and I help them)and I just never looked back.I figure anybody with half a brain would be able to see that she was the problem and I never said anything to anyone leaving her standing all alone with no one fighting back.I just walked away from her and the whole group.I figured anybody who knew my character would see through the assalt by a jealous hateful person who pretended to be a friend. She wasn't really nice or true to anybody now that I think about it!There I said it, I haven't tried to explain that one before!!What is it about this place? People are just unloading all over there keyboards.I don't think I can see the letters anymore, they are rubbed off......................
Bye Sandie

Having been married to a sociopath, I can tell you that this is all correct (about sociopaths, no idea if it's true about Casey). There is nothing you can do or say to a sociopath to 'make' them feel empathy towards another human being. They simply are not capable of empathy.
It is not something I would wish on anyone.
857 - Fascinated
I am just catching up with all the posts, Wow!! lot's of interesting ideas and thoughts have been posted.
Barb, hope you are doing well. I was wondering if the lawyers will ask prospective jurors if they've ever known someone whom they thought was a sociopath as a screening question! What do you think Barb? My thoughts were the defense would want to screen out people who would answer yes, and the prosecution just the opposite. I do wonder if they will ask.
After reading all the thoughts it occurred to me that perhaps a big key to this is going to come down to Cindy Anthony's testimony about when that blanket became missing. (The one that was found with Caylee's remains). It seems to me the timeline is messed up by the 24th when Casey see's George at the house and he gets the gas cans out of Casey's trunk. He clearly never mentions any smell at that time. Could the gas smell have covered it up??? Then apparently on or around the 25th Casey mentions the "dead" smell in her car to her friend Amy.
If Caylee died on or shortly after June 16th as the police are speculating, you'd think the trunk would have already smelled horriffically by the 24th when George gets the gas cans out of the trunk.
We know Casey had the car while it smelled. She then text messaged her friend Amy about the smell and finding the dead squirrel on the 27th, I believe.
She then abandoned it at the Amscot (I respect everyone's opinions, but sorry I think it's a real stretch (not impossible, but a real stretch) to believe anyone else could have gotten to the car and tainted it after it's abandoned). Amscot appears to be a very public well lit place, it's a financial store open 24/7.
The car was towed from there after sitting in the same spot in the parking lot for several days, and then it was in an impound lot, which doesn't provide alot of easy access.
Cindy mentions at some point to LE that the Pooh blanket was missing (I took it as if it hadn't been missing the whole time). Although I don't believe Cindy will co-operate in coming up with a specific date it was missing, I think she would have noticed exactly when the blanket went missing. Unless the blanket dissappeared on the same day in June Casey and Caylee did, I bet it will be a key to this story.
858 - Juror #8
I was on a jury once! Hi everybody - I read and read and wanted to share what I experienced as a juror a few years ago. I was questioned to be on a jury for a child molestation case and asked the judge to excuse me because it turned my stomach and I elaborated on a family problem that I really didn't care about so they did. They also questioned everyone in front of the accused! So they put me back into the jury pool and picked me the next day for a housing trial. The questions were so general, and if you spoke up about something specific it was almost like they belittled you in front of everyone (it wasn't a private interview like I thought it would be) anyway the room was filled with not what I would want to judge ME! There was also a sexy 35ish woman who used her sexuality with the men in a baby-ish manner - she was very successfully manipulative of closing out the other women's thoughts and agreeing with the men. I didn't expect it to be so simple in the selection. Basically they wanted to know if you had arms and legs and a head on your shoulders - they didn't care about anything specific in anyone's lives or ask specific questions that might make you not a good juror. The only thing that was remotely fair (because these people were from certain persuasians and had voiced beliefs and in the dynamics of people getting along in a group, all fell in line to the hiarchy of the dominant male, his followers aided by the sexy chick who put the other women in their place agreeing with the men) and the only thing I feel certain about were the jurors instructions because they were followed to the letter. AND, if you follow them to the letter, you should not be able to insert your personality into your decision. I thought it would be a bad experience and I was actually proud of the work our jury did in the end. I was also surpsised that my thoughts and ideas were challenged by the others keeping me in line with the jury instructions.
So, in that respect, I was actually proud of the work accomplished by my jury and I feel that Casey Anthony will get a fair trial - EVEN if every person on earth is rolling their eyes in disbelief right now. It will be Casey's legal team's job to suggest beyond a reasonable doubt there is no way she did this - NOW THAT will be the impossible task I think!! I am so curious about this case but I hope they close the doors to the media so the news coverage does not become a distraction to the jury.
Fascinated - I think the forensics will answer many of those questions of yours super slueth! You could probably google when decomposition odor starts too, I am going to do just that right now!
859 - Fascinated
Dear Juror,
AWW...thanks for the moniker...I think studying this stuff is my own method of escape....guess I could have worse issues. I hate seeing children in particular suffer like this and know I am not alone in that.
I really enjoyed your thoughts on being a juror and how the instructions would prevent you from injecting your own "stuff" into a decision! Etc. Great Post!
I did look up the decomp issue and all I will share is that it grossed me out, but seems very possible in Fl heat in June it would not take more than a few days, if that for an odor to be present. (I am contemplating nursing school and after reading all this, am apprehensive about "stomaching" some things....but I digress).
P.S. Your thoughts on the group dynamics reminded me of where I used to work, Yuk! But it's interesting to read your observations of it. Again really enjoyed your post.
860 - Juror #8
You betcha! I know now all the concentration is on the trial and I just wanted to state my experience from a would be boring housing trial, it was very interesting from the seat of a juror following the instructions. My personal opinion of these creepy people (both sides) or who I believed did not turn out to reflect in my decisions after we all followed the letter of each instruction, to carefully consider all aspects that the judge presented to us on a list (not just those I made my mind up about). Much to my own surprise, opposite to my personal beliefs or how I thought I was going to vote, I voted to dismiss the landlord of gross violations. Afterward I drove by the actual place and it was creepy haven, only creepy people would ever live there so the picture the lady and her family painted was a lie - only creepy people would live there in the first place - she was being an opportunist for money finding out after the fact that she could sew her landlord from 2 yrs prior - $$
Yeah, we probably worked at the same place with the same set of fakies flaunted in front of us while we got dogged by the bosses with an unfair workload!
Nurses ROCK! There are many things to choose from. They do all the work. I have had nurses more educated with more credentials than doctors sometimes. Go into it, you will never regret an education or helping people. You have to stomach something where ever you work.
Still I didn't like the sexy chick and had to dodge her following me for lunch (I am a woman but she wanted me to be her buddy on off trial breaks).

David, I can only imagine what you must have gone through actually being married to a sociopath. I know that no amount of prison time or retribution will change a sociopath. I truly believe there is no cure. It is their ability to LIE like there is no tomorrow that just blows my ever lovin' mind. The woman I am dealing with right now that is costing me so much money is a liar beyond belief. You would not be surprised at some of the stunts she has pulled in an effort to get me off her back. None of it has worked, she shoots herself in the foot everytime, but in every case it is without shame. Unbelievable. I thank God for my sanity.
862 - Sandie
OMG! I just read up on the Scott Peterson trial and I think I am going to have nightmares about him and Casey Anthony-they are EXACTLY alike. Just like Casey's friends Scott told lies to everyone, different lies too. Did you know that he told neighbors he went golfing and he told the police he went fishing and his fishing pole wasnt assembled and the lures were still in the package never opened! OMG OMG OMG! JUST LIKE CASEY!
Barb, so how do you avoid meeting or being friends with a sociopath if they are so hard to detect from everybody else. Arn't they a little more appealing too? It's like - who do you trust? I asked my aunt who always has crazy relationships if she ever knew anyone who would lie like this and she says they are everywhere. This makes me sad. How are you supposed to know the difference? Can you imagine how poor Lacy Peterson must have felt when her husband did her in? He's not talking either is he? I bet he even killed that other missing girl at college. Maybe they should water torture him, sorry but it's true.
From all this I don't think Casey is going to talk either. No WAY would my parents support me in something this crazy, I drive them nuts already.
Sorry to the guy who is married to one. I would get a new one.
Bye Sandie (I think I am going to take some forensic science classes because this is CRAZY interesting in the weirdest way)
863 - Barb
Sandie, are you just now reading up on Scott Peterson? He dominated the news for about two years starting in 2002. He and Casey are very much alike in the way they show no emotion, grief, or remorse.
How to avoid a sociopath. Here is one thing I can tell you for sure. This may not mean that the person is a sociopath, but in my experiences with sociopaths one tip off is that their lives are in chaos. They always have turmoil and they will talk very badly about people as though they are victims. If you get around someone who's life is a catastophe, but they always have a good excuse and/or blame others, RUN. You likely are dealing with a sociopath. I hope you never have to deal with one. They always leave a mark that never seems to go away. They will steal your faith in people if you let it get to you because they come off as being so compassionate and caring. It steals your ability to trust. So like I said before if you don't want to learn any lessons from a sociopath, look out for the signs I mentioned.
864 - Sandie
Well, in 2002 I wasn't as mature as I am not and didn't pay as much attention to stuff in the news as I do now. I remember seeing the pictures of Lacy on t.v. all the time and it was too sad. But I feel like a detective now searching for answers on this case so I am reading up!
Barb, that could have been YOU do you realize that? Of course you do, I'm stupid, I just think WOW, that must really frighten you at times. This is a lot scarier than a dark parking lot in the bad part of town with all these crazy people running around looking like everybody else.
Do you think my scummy friend was one? (I told you about her earlier). I never understood why she acted like a best friend and would relay all my secrets to everyone else like she hated me. I ditched her like a bad case of the crabs. It hurt for a long time though. I think it's best to be your own best friend and if you don't want anyone to know, don't tell anyone anything.
Bye Sandie
865 - Sandie
Oh also, I do not have crabs, thats just something I say sometimes to make my point.
Bye Sandie
866 - Juror #8
Sandie, I was wondering if you had the chance to read my prior posts. I read yours and am smiling but I also think that my post may answer some of your questions about how a jury conducts their decision making duties. Good detective work girl!
867 - Barb
Sandie, first of all stop calling yourself stupid!
The feelings I have regarding my experiences with sociopaths are not fear, they are ANGER. I was taken advantage of when I only had goodwill toward these people. But that is a sociopath for you. They seek out people who are kind hearted and rip them to shreds, often with no consequences. I've called their bluff and saw such rage in them - that didn't even scare me. It just offended me more because even though they were caught big time and there was no escape, they continue to try and shift blame and weasle out of their actions. Let me tell ya, once I figure it out (takes me awhile sometimes because I don't think like a sociopath) I go after them with a vengeance. The most recent girl that ripped me off I am positive wishes she had chosen another sucker. Seriously, you would laugh your @$$ off if you knew some of the things I have done to expose her. I mean I have really frosted her fat @$$. I take comfort knowing that in a month she is going to jail for defrauding a business. She has a criminal record where she had a 90 day jail sentence, but 88 days were suspended. Now she will probably have to serve the remaining 88 days PLUS whatever jail time she will get for her latest offense. I plan to be in that court room when this all happens. I told her she will never escape me and she never will.
As far as your friend I don't know if she is sociopathic, but I can tell you that she is toxic and I would cut her off. With friends like that who needs enemies?
868 - Sandie
Wo, whatever that fat$$cancerfaking blank blank @$$ did, sounds like she picked the wrong Barbie huh! Lots of people do good stuff for the world based from anger, maybe you can conduct an anger management class for sociopaths and yell at them all once a week for an hour! hahaha, wouldn't it be funny for the judge to send her to your class! Once I was so angry about the same thing for so long I actually forgot what made me mad in the first place! AND I am not even blonde!
Yeah, toxic like toxic waste is right! Funny, that's the same thing I say about her - who needs enemies! She is just really shallow and always looking to ladder climb and a user - she is really good at convincing everyone she is a victim so you do alot of stuff for her because supposedly she has been so wronged but actually she is a manipulator and when she uses you up she drops yeah like a hot potatoe talks smack and comes around when she needs something. User, a toxic user! I used to notice that when she was buddied up to whoever was her bestest pal of the week, usually whoever was like the leader in our group, I swear to god her body language changed each time like she was somebody's prison bitch, I swear to god! I used to wonder because she didn't even act like the same person depending on who's bitch she was! I used to be mad all the time and now I am not, it's just a story to tell without the same feelings attached, I hope the same happens for you. When I stopped getting my feelings hurt and I decided I didn't like her as a person, I got mad and lately it just doesn't matter anymore.
I can't find anything new on Casey Anthony - it's the strangest thing.
Thanks Jury #8,I read and that was a really good description, I have more confidence it will be a fair trial now because I guess no matter what you have to follow the instructions.
Do you get to take notes on the jury or are you supposed to remember everything? Do they let you watch the tv show of the trial so you can watch it bit by bit in the jury room later? Can you eat? I would be so hungry all day with a numb chair butt going flat, I am glad I don't live in Florida.
Bye Sandie
869 - Barb
Hi, Sandie,
As far as the jury goes, they are often instructed not to talk about the trial or watch or listen to any media about the case while it is going on. Sometimes they are sequestered so they are shielded from any possibility of being tainted by the media. This was the case of OJ Simpson.
I am probably the one who needs to take anger management. This woman didn't do anything to me as far as the fraud out of anger. She did it because this is how she makes her living. She has no money and no job so she defrauds others to survive. However, I had my attorney send her a very strongly worded letter demanding the money she stole from me and also a written apology for not only stealing from me, but for slandering me and my son to anyone who would listen. She told several people that I would abandon my son and leave him with her for days while I went off with my "Internet" boyfriends to use drugs, she said my son broke into her house. Yah right. We live 30 miles from her. Like my son is going to find a ride to her house and just break in. She actually went to the police and told them that I was stalking her daughter at her job and at her school and was banned from both places. She lied about so, so many other things, but the thing is everything she said was very quickly and easily proven to be a lie. I actually had to go to the police station to defend myself against her false allegations. Needless to say, the police officer was FURIOUS by the time he was finished with her. I was furious with her AND him because he treated me like the "bad cop" scenario to see if he could catch me lying. When I left the police dept that day I told him I wasn't done with this. The officer actually called me a few days later to apologize to me and said he could not believe with all of her crimes that she was not currently in jail.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. So when my attorney sent the letter to her I told him to send it to her physical address AND to the post office registered because she would lie and say she never got the letter. Sure enough, that's what she did. So here is an example of what I did to remedy that problem. I sent a copy of my attorney letter to EVERY HOUSE IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD, I mean EVERY HOUSE. So she was inundated with the neighbors coming over to her house to give her the letter I'm sure after reading all about her business.
Even my attorney thinks that is funny. She had boasted to people that she didn't think I had her correct address. Too bad she had to pull that stunt because indeed, I HAD sent the letter(s) to the wrong address.
This is just one of the many things I did as a repercussion of the way she has behaved since I caught her stealing from me. Everytime she would lie I would follow up on it and exaggerate her lie to my benefit.
Still, she has no conscience and she has no shame. But she does have intense anger when she gets caught.
My court case is with her this week. It will probably be her attorney knowing he doesn't have a snow ball's chance in h-e double toothpicks meeting to the side to work out something. I am not going to make it that easy for her if I can help it. I have an army of witnesses (including the police officer), tons of documentation, and a smart attorney. Unfortunately, she will never pay me back even though the judgment will very likely go my way. She owes tens of thousands of dollars to several people and businesses who have sued her and they are all default judgments because she doesn't show up - and she doesn't pay.
How do people live like this??
So, yes, anger management would be good for me, but a psychiatric ward would be a better place for her.
Best,
Barb
870 - Sandie
WHAT DO I MISS? I didnt get all that I thought you were just mad at her for being a jerk liar. I'm sorry you keep telling me I am not stupid but honestly, and I am really serious, I dont get why you are suing her in court! Did she steal from you? Well if she has a bunch of other lawsuits she probably isnt going to pay you either but I guess ya have to do what ya have to do. Did she say she was sick and you gave her a bunch of money? Well maybe after you sue her and see her ugly face in court you will feel better and not be so angry. After all, the most valuable thing is your happiness in life and you certainly don't want to let her steal that from you forever. Try thinking about all the smart reasons you understand from books as to why she is the way she is and have pitty on her, not to say to feel sorry for her but once you understand from a booksmart point of view then it wont feel so personal and you can move on and feel separate from it. Imagine all the (sorry doc) crazies the doctor talks to, how do you think she eats dinner with the family every night after a day at that office!!! After you do all you can do, then start getting away from her as a person in your life - she is just a story.
Good question? How do you separate yourself from other people's problems doctor Julie? How do you have regular friends too when you can see through all their wierd crap everyday? It would be like reading minds or having X-ray vision to me!!
I cleaned my closet last night and I got rid of the couple things left that were from my ex-friend. It felt great, even though I liked the clothes, they always reminded me of her and I would catch myself snearing when the closet was open - outa sight outa mind. The funny thing is that she was the clothes and everything else mooch, and a bad borrower, never returned a thing, you had to ask for it back or she would keep anything from anyone. Her mother was the same way, always thinking everyone had things to take, they were have nots and everyone else were haves. Stay away from have nots, they dont appreciate anything they just want everything you have.
You have a son? He deserves all this energy, not this old fat chick. Sue her ass off or whatever you have to do and then think only about your son. Every time you think about her, snap a rubber band on your wrist to remind you it hurts every time you think about her! Trust me, cheap and it works!
Gotta go, it's mothers day.
Bye Sandie
(What would your mother tell you - don't be a pickle puss or your face will freeze that way!)
871 - Barb
Hi, Sandie,
In all honesty, I am not anywhere near as angry as I used to be because I have an attorney and so much evidence against her. Having a legal advocate relieved me of a lot of this and frankly, I rarely speak of it. I have more in here just because we are talking about sociopaths. But yes, she stole thousands of dollars from me by fraudulent use of my credit card. No, she probably will not pay me back because she doesn't pay anyone back, but she is going to feel the sting of her actions against me. Once the judgement is ruled against her (she cannot possibly win this battle) I will go after her for criminal fraud. So she's getting spanked.
And like I said awhile back, next month she has a trial for a felony she committed so she is busted for that as well. It must suck to be here.
I pursue things like this because this is the way I am. Money or no money back doesn't matter. Not to sound cliche' but it's the principle of the thing. And the fact that she accused my son of breaking and entering into her home and also referred to him as "wretched" really got the motherly blood in my veins boiling.
She is so screwed. She has ruined her life. No matter how things turn out with my particular case, she has shown herself to be a criminal and will probably spend quite a bit of time jail. I saw her name on the Internet the other day. There is a warrant for her arrest for fraud in the town where her daughter goes to college. She never stops. I'm not going to stop her. I'm certain of that. But she's not going to just walk away from what she has done to my child and myself. That's what the justice system is for.
872 - Juror #8
Please excuse me, I just wanted to chime in and say I understand principals and I appreciate your acting on them, a thief is a thief no matter if they pretend to be your friend.
Perhaps when you see her prosecuted in a court of law you will feel vindicated and be able to move past that you have been violated.
I was burglarized not long ago and ran through similar emotions, disbelief, anger, fear, resentment, and hyper action of wanting to establish every neighbor in a neighborhood watch, etc. etc. Eventually my horrid neighbor (whom I feel certain did this) moved, and since I met only apathy no watch group ensued but I am a different person because of this experience.
There are many kinds of people and too many of them are no good unfortunately.
Good luck sending your thief to jail.
Why isn't your local D.A. taking the criminal case on?
873 - Barb
Hi, Juror,
In the state where I live this is considered a civil case, not a criminal case. However, after the civil case is over my attorney is going to pursue criminal charges against her. As it stands right now the sum of things is I am spending a lot of time and money going after someone who will just have another judgment on her record (she has literally dozens). Since I gave her permission to use my card I shot myself in the foot. She asked to use it for something small, but ended up renting a car for three months and I had absolutely no idea until the rental car place finally found me and called me. I was horrified. I am going after her for everything I can. I may not have success, but I am leaving no stone unturned. That to me is giving up and negligent on my part. She has done this to so many people. I knew her for three years before this happened so it really shocked me.
She WILL be doing jail time for a crime she committed in December. I am not sure what exactly it was, but it's a felony. She already has one suspended sentence for fraud so I am hoping they will revoke that suspension and make her spend the remaining three months in jail along with any new time she has to serve for her latest rip off routine.
This woman is something else. We live in a small community. Everyone knows about her and she seems to be completely void of any shame, embarrassment, and definitely no remorse. It's absolutely unbelievable.
874 - Rosanna
This was a great article. I say you are right on with Casey's personality. I don't know how she thinks she's going to be found not guilty, when there's so much evidence against her. Poor Caylee had no chance with her, this was going to happen to her sooner or later. I wish the parents saw the signs and didn't let Casey go anywhere with her and took care of her when she wanted to go and party. I hope she will not fool the jurors and become the victim. This girl deserves punishment, she needs to be held accountable for what happened and finally be punished for her wrongs. I also believe the parents know, their daughter did it and like with everything else they are willing to let her get away with this too.
875 - Juror #8
Rosanna, fortunately it doesn't matter what Cindy & George think about this case, it will be decided by the jury and court proceedings. Although bizzare, I do not think they are anything more than desparate not wanting to lose her too. Either way, how they deal with their family problems, public or private is of no consequence to this case I feel as it will only serve the prosecution once they become hostel witnesses.
I don't understand why the public is so quick to blame Cindy and George. Every family has some degree of problem people and Casey was theres, I would wager good money they had no idea that she was capable of murder. Casey was also an adult. No matter how they behave, I don't feel they bare responsibility for the loss of Caylee - who could have predicted this in their wildess nightmares? All I read about on thig blog is account after account of how sociopaths manipulate, lie and fool people into thinking they are something they are not at all. Why is this any different? Does this mean that Barb who explained her story above deserves her fate because she didn't predict that a simple favor could be so detrimental to her finances? No, of course not. The parents are not the public, it doesn't matter how mad anyone is, it is way out of their hands now. I feel badly for them, what a nightmare to endure.
Wishing for things after it is too late to reverse someone is a waste of your time and energy, it's just not possible. I wish I had invented bottled water too! I bet those Anthonys wish many things were different but that isn't party to this case.
Just my thoughts, no offense I hope.
