Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro - Lovelorn Shocker, Actress Splits from Rocker

For former Baywatch hottie Carmen Electra, 34, now busy evolving into a reasonably competent actress, and her husband of less than three years, former Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro, 39, the dream of a lifetime of wedded bliss has ended.

The kinky couple are "amicably separating," Electra's publicist, Brit Reece, said Monday.

In true modern celeb love fashion, the couple publicly documented their November 2003 wedding (her second, his third) on MTV's 'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave.

CarmenDaveWedding I remember their "story-book romance for the ages" as if it were yesterday. The toothsome twosome met on a blind date, and "it was love at first sight," Electra cooed. The platinum-and-red invitations called for "hot and sexy" attire. The 200 guests who arrived at the St. Regis Hotel in Los Angeles were greeted by men dressed in black with red masks covering their faces, as in Eyes Wide Shut, one of the couple's favorite films.

But the feelings they expressed for each other couldn't have been more traditional, although one of the flock of parrots gathered for the ceremony squawked at an inopportune moment.

"I'm nervous!" Navarro declared said before the nuptials. "I'm marrying the girl of my dreams." The actress and aerobic striptease instructor, who was married briefly to Dennis Rodman in 1998, wore a strapless, beaded, cream-colored Badgley Mischka gown. Navarro wore a Gucci suit.

CarmenDaveGrammys A few months later, a giddy Navarro joked with MTV News. "Thanks to MTV, we can give our kids a DVD package about how their parents met and wed. And maybe MTV can document our childbirth. I got some making-of home footage."

    I am totally shocked!!!

What with Dave Navarro being completely into guys and all, who would think such a union would fail.

Poor Electra, she should just stick with the homo-erotic heterosexuals like Prince and Dennis Rodman, rather than marrying actual gay men.

dawn, how can you say something so mean and nasty about Dave Navarro?!

i mean, you don't even know him!

    ;-)

Guffaw! That does seem a bit presumptive and harsh. I believe Dawn has been listening to negative innuendo about Dave from the Chili Peppers.

well...One Hot Minute wasn't so, uhm, hot. but that's no reason to give the guy such shit. he must be in such pain right about now.

    have mercy!

perhaps he can turn to Brooke Burke, his Superstar cohost, for consolation

Dave Navarro isn't the reason that album was bad. I have always liked the guy as a musician (JA, his solo album wasn't bad) but he was not a good fit for RHCP.

I was a little surprised. I thought they 'seemed' from a long distance to be a good fit. Who knew?

I think he's more rocky-metally, and they are more funky-punky. He kind of interfered with the groove

Aww, I love Carmen and Dave. :(

I remember stalking them at the Scary Movie 4 premiere--they were so cute together.

Oh well--now Dave can make a sex tape with Tommy Lee and I can die happy.

Anthony Kiedis, contrasting Navarro's playing with Frusciante's, says that Navarro is all about density, whereas Frusciante is all about space. I think Navarro is a helluva guitarist. Give me density over space any time. And I suppose he has a heart, too ... uh ... if you say so, Eric.

Love the pics. duane, et al, yes, Navarro has gifts and game, he reportedly is moving in with a chick named Sarah Howard - whom he has been reportedly dating for five months.

HIStory: Navarro has been married three times and divorced twice. He married his first wife, Tanja, in 1990 and his second wife, Rhian, in 1994. Navarro joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1993 when he also revealed publicly that he thought himself to be bisexual. (thought???...Which most likely is the root of all the failings of his hetero-relationships...)

He can play his guitar either right-handed or left-handed, too. Coincidence? Hmmm ... In public, he plays only right-handed. He admits, however, to being able to play it both ways. Dave plays a Dave Navarro Signature Paul Reed Smith guitar, and has been since 1987. Evidently, he has a stable relationship with his instrument.

Tell me Dave Navarro's not REALLY gay.

I had the BIGGEST crush on him and hope holds out that we'll get married someday. Haha.
