Careful, You Might Be Eaten By A Grue!

Remember Zork? (If I have to ask you that, you're in the wrong blog, bucko.) Well, the revolutionaries at Barbelith Underground have started a neat game called Text Adventure Story. In it, each person describes the action that occurs due to the prior person's last instruction, then leaves a new instruction of their own.

For example:

push button

The voice of Kurt Loder surrounds you. He says, "Eddie, you're great. Everybody loves you. Please, Eddie, keep making music. You're much better than that Cobain character. And hey, bonus points for the whole Ticket Master thing. I mean, right on. Remember, Eddie, you're the new Jim Morrisson. Everybody loves you...."

pull button!

I don't understand that command.

The voice continues heaping praise on Eddie Vedder. You feel yourself getting weaker.

Just go and read the thread. It started in September, and it's a hoot. If you want more info about the real Infocom games like Zork (and my favorites: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Leather Goddesses of Phobos), go to The Underdogs (where you can download most of them) or to http://infocom.elsewhere.org/ (where you can play them online).
