Independent minds and free spirits use blogging as a tool to share and connect, so how can this be put to good use and help mightier causes?
Save the Children has thrown its hat into the ring and for the first time, instead of enlisting the support of a celebrity, has decided that three British Mummy bloggers might just be the ticket to make a big change for the better.
I'm one of the bloggers and I will be heading to Dhaka, Bangladesh on August 29 for a whistle stop tour of the country with two other Mums who blog at Sleep Is For the Weak and MummyTips.
I love the whole ethos of blogging, it's opened up new connections, experiences, and a whole new world. It's also opened my eyes to the way we influence and support each other so I didn't need to think twice about about going.
Hence our mission: to record our trip using blogging, Twitter, and any other means we can use to create and share content and to make the rallying call to activate the British public into signing a petition to ensure the UK's deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg makes a difference when he attends the Millenium Development Goal Summit in New York on September 22.

Ten years ago world leaders set targets, called Millennium Development Goals , to reduce poverty, hunger and disease. At the moment these child health targets are way off track. Nick Clegg has a crucial opportunity to ensure world leaders commit to reaching these goals – we aim through our trip to highlight real lives and real stories to actually show what needs to be done and the progress that has been made.
