Okay, here are the rules:
(1) If you are a Realtor posting on Blogcritics, first scan to see if other Realtor-bloggers have written on the topic you are about to post on. If another Realtor-blogger has posted on it, post on another topic. It's not ethical to be dishonest in real estate, so don't be dishonest here.
(2) Do not turn your post into a blatant advertisement for your website. It's okay to link your name to your website, but people generally get mad if you blatantly advertise, so try not to.
(3) Write your post as if you were writing for say, Inman News, or any other reputable publication, and try to keep it written toward a national audience. Posting gives you the opportunity to inform people about real estate trends and provide them with information.
(4) Don't try to one-up other Realtor-bloggers with your posts (i.e., stealing a topic they've posted on and adding links or more information, etc., within the last week or so of their original post). After all, you may need them one day to make a sale or get a referral.
(5) Remember, Blogcritics is a publication and its readers will tire of you if you only write about real estate. Be creative. Interview a porn star who's running for governor. Create a Blogger's Code of Ethics. Review a book or movie. Think outside the box. You're now a blogger, so you will likely be expected to post on things other than real estate from time to time, especially here at Blogcritics.
(6) Research blogs and get some ideas. Check out some real estate blogs on my blogroll on my blog to get real estate blogging ideas.
(7) Get a blog. Websites are nice, but if you don't have a blog you really aren't a blogger, and if you're not a blogger, why are you here?
Cheers.
