Blogcritics.org has long been the home of a sinister cabal of superior bloggers, and over the last three years, more than 1100 writers have contributed articles on music, books, TV, movies, sports, science, technology, politics, and more.
Now, Blogcritics.org has launched a new site, Desicritics.org. "Desi" is a colloquial term for people from South Asia. In an article about the South Asian party scene in the Big Apple, New York Times reporter Somini Sengupta described the word as a "Hindi version of homeboy or homegirl" (NYT, 6/30/96: "To Be Young, Indian and Hip"). Desicritics are therefore superior bloggers with ties to South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and so on).
The publisher of Desicritics.org is Aaman Lamba, a well-known writer and editor of Blogcritics.org. Joining him on the first day are 79 other writers, some of whom are Blogcritics, but many of whom are new to the Blogcritics Network! If you have an interest in South Asia and would like to find out more, ask yourself: are you a Desicritic?
Although it is January 25 in the United States, it is January 26 in India, where Indians are celebrating Republic Day, the anniversary of the Constitution of India since 1950. Now, Republic Day will also be the anniversary of Desicritics.org.
