Blogcritics On Valentine's Day

Is Valentine's Day an organic celebration of eros, philia and agape made manifest through the spirit of a romantic early Christian martyr? Or is it a crass commercial grab enforced by guilt and manipulation whereby automatons reflexively purchase societally approved symbols of emotional attachment? Do we respond to the call as a vestige of the chivalric tradition stirring some tender echo in our souls, or do we act in insensate lockstep as socially engineered mice deluded into the perception of a deeper sonority?

We are trying to figure it out here:

Valentine's Day definitely has a dark and pagan heart.

I'm sorry, but Valentine's day (in my opinion) is just a Hallmark made holiday for the Corporate American idiots to give more of their hard earned money to the man. Why do you need a specific day to show a specific person that you care about them or love them? If you follow suit, does that mean that the other 364 days of the year are meaningless?

#2: Valentines Day very much predates Hallmark Cards--or at least that's what Corporate America and "The Man" tells me. (Assuming your at all serious--have you listened to yourself?)

Sure you should love your woman every day, but V-Day is simply a routine breaker.
