MUSIC: Matt Freelove's picks of the week

CD Review: Alice Cooper - Dirty Diamonds by Chris Beaumont, Sept. 7
Chris Beaumont pays homage to Alice Cooper and his latest album.

Review: Ministry - Rantology by Chris Akin, Sept. 8
Chris Akin writes a balanced review of Ministry's new album. He likes the tunes, but sours on the politicking.

BOOKS: Pat Cummings' picks of the week

Which Way Comics? by John Schroeder, Sept. 8
John has taken two clues from the news, and spun it together with his own love and knowledge of the serial comic-book form. The result is an excellent opinion piece about traditional comics, manga, the 1980s collecting glut, and the movies.

If India & Pakistan Had Joined Forces Against The British Empire - Sept 8

--AND --
S.M. Stirling's Nantucket Trilogy - both by Ashok K. Banker, Sept 9
Ashok's Alternate History commentary (Part III dropped on Saturday, after the close of this week's picks) is worth reading. For one thing, he appears to have attracted the attention of one of the authors he reviews. For another, the take on history is quite different from the Indian sub-continent. And finally, Ashok is himself an author; he knows whereof he speaks.
