Anime is a complicated beast. To be honest, I'm clueless to the subtleties and appeal of this form of animation, but thanks to Lindsay Beaumont, I have a handy reference guide at my disposal. Whether you like anime or not, you gotta love the a genre that inspires a whole subculture.

POLITICS: Lisa McKay's Picks of the week
(Natalie Bennett fills in while the Lisa's gambol and galavant. Well, something more important than that, most likely.).
In an article titled "Why Liberal? A Toothless Manifesto" Douglas Anthony Cooper defines himself as a liberal, in his terms "a person reviled by the left, and despised by the right" , but worries that he can't come up with a more exciting hero than John Stuart Mill. The problem is, he suggests, is the extremes get the wild, seductive characters. (September 21)
In "Bill Clinton's racial demagoguery on This Week with George Stephanopoulos" Al Barger is deconstructing an interview with Bill Clinton, saying he is indulging in cheap, ugly racial demagoguery. "This is Bill Clinton's idea of being an elder statesman," he concludes. (September 18)

However, you don't seem to allow comments on your blog, so I'll have to leave them here.
Ayn, oops, sorry, God said she'd given America everything it needs to defend itself--but she hasn't given us the brains to do it wisely. There was a very disturbing series of articles in the New York Times Magazine one or two weeks ago--since you have to buy the articles in their archives, I can't even get the correct issue.
Anyway, it's not how we defeat terrorism, but how & the Bush folks, at least according to this article, have been playing right into Osama's hands.
By odd coincidence, I started reading Sheehan's "A Bright & Shining Lie," realizing I'd neve read it. The parallels between Vietnam & Iraq are very disturbing. We never seem to learn any lessons.
Enough said...this ain't the place for debate.
