This week features the return of the Erics:  Olsen and Berlin.  Olsen tells us about his trip to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean flick.  Eric Berlin gets political about President Bush and global warming.   Mark Saleski and I discuss some great debut albums, and Matt Sussman joins us for a rundown of Major League Baseball as well as an NFL item.

But the real news for this week is the introduction of a new interactive segment on the BCRadio Podcast.  Stick around for BCRadio Truth or Dare and feel free to play along at home.

I forgot to answer the question myself. Few of the books I read had any sexual content. I was known to re-read certain passages but I don't know that I would skip ahead and look for it. Unlike EB, I HATE looking ahead in a book. I just don't do it. I read it from beginning to end.

So c'mon now, let's have some suggestions. Everything you ever wanted to know about your BCRadio personalities but were afraid to ask.

...and while I am at it, iTunes has been updated with the past two shows. I am so on top of everything.

I was reminded this morning that in the 7th grade or so we were assigned to read Lusitania. One day our teacher informed us in a stilted voice that it was pointed out to him that several chapters had objectionable content and therefore we could choose to skip those chapters if we wished. Of course, everyone rushed to those very sections as quickly as possible!

I would have done the same thing, EB. I do remember reading a book strictly because it was supposed to have been on the "banned list" in a lot of places. It didn't really impress me much, the book or the content.

Was it The Adventures of Tom Sawyer?

Just listened to it front-to-back, DJR, great job! Love the intros, the music, the guests, the topics, and particularly the the new wrinkles. Would love to see much more of the latter, sprinkled throughout the show.

One slight technical glitch -- there were weird overlaps at the end of every segment.

I haven't listened to the segment yet but I already agree with Comment 5.

Never judge a book by its cover.

I've been wondering if you have obtained licenses for the music you're including in the podcast? Most podcasters I've listened to have specifically gone to using podsafe music (or none at all) in order to avoid having to pay all of the fees involved with licensing music for podcasts.

Also, any chance you could use Skype (free calls in the US until January!) or something similar to improve the audio quality of the phone interviews?

Anna, thanks for the thoughts. We don't play full songs on the show, only 20-35 second soundclips. EO and I talked and he thinks we are probably safe as long as we stick with that.

As for the phone interview/Skype idea... it is something I have toyed with. It would be great to get everyone to use Skype and have mics for their computer and know how to use them. Unfortunately, they don't. When using it as a VOIP and recording it, the quality improvement is there but it is not a major improvement especially when the file is then mixed down to a lower bitrate MP3 for downloading. I have listened to some other podcasts and of the ones that use phone there are some that sound better than we do and some that actually don't. I'd say with the budget in question, we're doing the best we can. If you would like to Skype in a segment with us on the show, I'd love to have you on sometime.
