BC Radio - March 20, 2006

Part of: BCRadio Podcast

Another episode of BC Radio, boys and girls.

  • BC Radio [1:36:06]
  • SEGMENT 1: Eric Berlin [14:21]
  • SEGMENT 2: Matt Sussman [13:27]
  • SEGMENT 3: Mike Street [10:48]
  • SEGMENT 4: Jon Sobel [13:09]
  • SEGMENT 5: Joan Hunt [13:25]
  • SEGMENT 6: Mark Saleski [11:45]
  • SEGMENT 7: The Duke [14:54]

This week features a little more music coverage than the first two weeks of our BC Radio re-launch. We get an Indie Roundup from Jon Sobel. We get our blues fix with Joan Hunt. Mark Saleski is on the show for some damn reason.

In addition to music, I insult Matt Sussman while we talk sports and he exposes me for the fraud I am when it comes to picking March Madness brackets.

The Big Picture takes a hiatus but it takes a nation of millions to hold the indomitable Eric Berlin down. He joins us to talk about the first episode of Sopranos Season 6.

BC Radio gets its first gaming news update from contributor Mike Street.

Closing it all out is #1 Foreign Correspondent, The Duke De Mondo.

am I missing something? or is there really no link to actually hear this. I can't do RSS, and the iTunes things just links me back to this post.

      Sad. : (

I don't know how those disappeared but they have been returned. Your links are alive. Go, download like the wind.

OK I saw the links - whew!

Naturally I had to listen to Sir Saleski first - the volume was a little 'bouncy' - but the content was great.

One thing though - what the hell did he say (in my lil shout out) "She's actually...going on" ?

But it was fun to hear the back and forth between you two.

When time allows (homework must start now) - I can't wait to hear the rest!

It is true, there is some bounce in the volume on account of still lingering issues of technology.

Saleski and I had a blast recording that segment. I hate I had to cut some out and cut it down. It was a hell of a lot of fun.

Are the Waheys cousins of the Faheys? And which side of the war are they on?

i'd have more comments but i'm headed out the door to drive to alabama in a 'borrowed' postal jeep...

Watch yourself, Saleski. Gun control in Alabama means something a bit different than in your neck of the woods.

Hail to the n00bs. I think we need to call the gaming segment "Video Game Avenue With Mike Street."

I just listened to the latest BCRadio. Great stuff, but I have a couple of suggestions.

Cut the length of the intro a bit. And if you're going to have a post here on BC include short summaries of each segment in the article so we know what each BCer is going to talk about. That way I could have skipped the segment on the NCAA before I heard any words rather than having to listen to a couple of sentences while I looked for the fast forward.

And of course, what the podcast needs most is um...me.

Oh, and what about the BC VideoCast? Take the two talkers and put them side to side on the screen in FoxNews style. Could be cool.

One more thing. You might want to edit out the minute plus of blank air that starts at 41:43.

But otherwise the production values were pretty good, except for a couple of wanky made in malaysia microphones.

      Good job overall.

Dave, I will look into the blank air situation but there are descriptions of the topics covered in this article. I mention that Suss and I talked about March Madness and baseball and the like.

This week's intro was a bit long but it is because it wasn't EO's segment which was longer so you still came out ahead.

In all fairness, Josh, you still have your title game intact, while North Carolina's vortex of suck drew me in as I penciled them as the runners up.

My NIT Final Four: Hoftstra, Michigan, Missouri State, Cincinnati.

Suss, I think my championship duo are the only Sweet 16 teams I got right.

    • 17 - Mark Sahm

      Mar 22, 2006 at 10:52 am

DJR: You might be luckier than you think. The championship game is the money ball in most pools. A woman from my work got more than half of the round of 64 wrong a couple years back, but ended up winning the pool because she was the only person to pick Syracuse to win it all.

Sahm, I picked UConn to win it all which is not exactly a brave pick (although if they win it should be enough to ease me past Sussman).
