If you enjoy sports or reality shows on TV, then you're in good company. AirPlay is a gaming website that aims to bring you more bang for your buck by allowing you to participate in games while watching your favorite things on TV. AirPlay's mission, according to their website, is "to create and deliver the premier wireless game experience based on real time televised events." What this means is that viewers can, by logging on to their AirPlay account while watching a televised baseball game (for example), make real-time predictions about various aspects of the game. Players score points for correct predictions and are entered into a weekly prize sweepstakes. AirPlay's VP of Marketing, Chris Bull, stopped by BC Radio Live to chat about the site's current offerings, the most exciting of which is playing along with the tenth season of Big Brother. Players have a chance to win a trip for two to the show's season finale. There are also opportunities to play games while watching Major League baseball games, NFL football, and more. If you enjoy a bit of sport with your sports viewing and would like to compete head-to-head with kindred spirits, check out AirPlay.
Our last guest for the evening was author Ralph Peters, whose resume includes job titles like military troubleshooter, best-selling novelist, popular columnist, and adventurer. Peters stopped by to talk about his recent memoir, Looking for Trouble: Adventures In A Broken World, in which he recounts his far-flung adventures and discusses how these experiences have come to shape his world view. A retired Army lieutenant colonel (having risen from through the ranks), Peters has had an opportunity that many authors who write about world affairs have lacked — the experience of observing events first-hand. Peters talked with BC Radio about the book, his colorful life, and the problem with contemporary political discourse in this country. For a treat, listen to the archived show to hear Peters and Eric Olsen veer into a fascinating, if brief, discussion of philosophy.
