His Art:
The work of Adrian Welch uses icons from gothic, horror, nudes and fantasy we are all familiar with. I think that's part of the reason people like his work. They already know and recognize parts of the images. Using theme's that are used all over the world in present and in the past is risky. You have to be aware that you don't just reproduce them, but give them your own character and suspense. And that is in my point of view the strength of Adrian Welch. He combines, deforms, plays with colors and contrast to create a unique 'dark erotic world' with humans and strange creatures.
About the Artist:
Adrian Welch is an artist, photographer, and designer with a Summa Cum Laude Degree in Visual Arts. His unique artwork has been published internationally, and has won several awards for outstanding graphic design, photography, and photomontage, including a Golden Web Award from the Intl. Association of Webmasters and Designers.
Adrian Welch's work has been featured in numerous ezines, print publications such as Mac Design, The Westboro Gazette, Dark Realms, and Cupido (Norway/Denmark), and book covers by Circlet Press. He has also contributed to many private collections and galleries in Sydney, Paris, Oslo, Toronto, Miami, Boston, New York, as well as over 10 countries and 44 states. His work has been hailed as "original" and "breathtaking", and has garnered praise from luminaries at Photoshop User magazine, Propaganda magazine, and Taschen Publishing.
In addition to art and photography, he specializes in vintage photo restoration and historical reproduction design. In his spare time, he collects antiques, writes fiction and poetry, and studies permaculture. A Miami native, he recently left New England for the West Coast, in search of new inspiration.
