Maybe all these questions are not important for your average personal computer document or music file but what we are discussing here are our precious memories. Our beloved photographic creations that exist nowhere else but on our hard drive and in our minds. With one power surge, one wrong bump or scratch or equipment failure and those images could be gone forever, vanishing into thin air with no way to retrieve them. No old-fashioned negative back-up. No prints. No web images. They’re just gone forever because you had blind faith in the all powerful gods of technology and you didn’t prey for protection often enough.
