Alan Tudyk to Star in Commedia-Inspired Clown Show in NYC

Part of: NewsFlash

Alan Tudyk is well known to fans of the Joss Whedon shows Firefly and Dollhouse, presently stars in ABC TV's Suburgatory, and will be appearing in the forthcoming film of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. But the best way to see him this season may be on stage, in an upcoming limited engagement this March of the Artigiani Troupe's That Beautiful Laugh, a family-friendly clown show also starring Julia Ogilvie and Carlton Ward.

Running March 16-25 as part of the acclaimed La MaMa theater's 50th anniversary season, the show features live music along with clowning and "tells the story of a world where laughter is forgotten and rediscovered." A "hilarious journey about the power and beauty of laughter in our lives," it was created by the Obie-winning director Orlando Pabotoy in collaboration with Tudyk, Ogilvie, and Ward. It is the inaugural production of the Artigiani Troupe, which takes inspiration from medieval Commedia dell'arte.

Alan Tudyk may be best known to many for his television roles but is a veteran of the stage, having appeared on Broadway in Epic Proportions, Prelude to a Kiss, and Spamalot and in numerous Off Broadway productions, along with a variety of films.

For tickets visit La Mama online or call 212-475-7710, and for more information visit the production's website.
