I read this once, and I suppose it's true.
Sad that it can't leave both parties equally happy, but it's usually such a wrenching, painful experience, a melange of anger at the other, a sense of inadequacy on each person's part that they failed, that the negative probably best fits the overall mood.
I was reminded of the above observation by a headline in Monday's New York Times:
- For Al Jazeera, Balanced Coverage Frequently Leaves No Side Happy
They must be doing something right, then. Interesting story exploring the fact that the channel is often the object of the Pentagon's wrath, while simultaneously being the target of an advertising boycott in some Arab countries.
The network now has 35 million viewers daily around the world.
