1st/Look New York 04.23.07: Dylan Prime and Anthos

The warm weather isn’t the only thing to celebrate this week. Cecile Raubenheimer goes inside Anthos, one of midtown’s brightest new restaurants. Anthos serves upscale Greek food — a cuisine largely represented in this town by greasy tavernas and generic dining rooms.

The very chic and pretty Anthos, Greek for blossom, is decorated in a soft palette of pale pink and chocolate brown and delicate cherry blossom prints hang on the wall. This is the handiwork of Donatella Arapia, formerly of Dona, and the executive chef is Michael Psilakis. The menu showcases modern interpretations of rustic Greek staples like a dressed-up Greek salad, a tasting of crudo mezes, and grilled sirloin with spanakopita. Check out this video for a preview of the menu and flowery decor.

Also, George Oliphant stops into Dylan Prime in Tribeca for a look at their newest menu item, the Bacon Chop. Chef Cipollone gives George a cooking lesson on how to prepare the outrageous Bacon Chop. And remember, everything tastes better with bacon.

Also this week, the Tribeca Film Festival is finally here — the festival runs from April 25 to May 5 — and there’s already buzz surrounding lots of the films and Al Gore’s appearance at the opening of the festival. Do not delay — tickets are scarce and time is running out.

And if you are feeling a bit Spielberg yourself, here is a chance to broadcast yourself to the entire city. LX.TV is teaming up with Menupages.com to give viewers the opportunity to tell us which restaurants in New York deserve a 1st/Look. Upload your own video review at Menupages.com and it might just end up on LX.TV and WNBC.
