Headed to SXSW? Check out the British/Basque band Crystal Fighters.

Crystal Fighters: Ready to Rock the U.S.

This week the music portion of SXSW festival kicked off in Austin, Texas. Among the many bands playing is the London-based Crystal Fighters. Their sound is a masterful mix of experimental electronica, punk rock, and folk elements of which they draw inspiration from the Basque region of Spain.

The band is gearing up for the U.S. release of their new EP, Plage, which will be available on March 20. The EP includes remixes with dance floor artists like Felix Cartal.

The title track and current single was described by NME as “an irresistable whirlwind of sound…infectiously, chaotically, totally brilliant.” The song is also featured on the band’s tremendous LP, Star of Love, originally released in 2010 and set to be reissued in the U.S. this spring.

After Crystal Fighters play SXSW this week, they are set to headline a string of shows, kicking off Saturday, March 17, in Miami.
