'90s rockers Creed return to the stage for the first time in seven years...

Creed Reunite for 2009 Tour, New Album In Works

The four original members of Creed have announced plans to reunite for a late summer/fall tour and a brand new album, their first new music in eight years.  Lead singer Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips, and bassist Brian Marshall will play  arenas and amphitheaters across the US beginning in Pittsburgh August 6 and wrapping up in Nashville in October.

Creed were one of the top selling rock bands of the late '90s, selling millions of records and selling out concert venues worldwide.  Creed parted ways with the band to pursue a solo career.  The remaining members formed the band Alter Bridge with singer Myles Kennedy.  According to Billboard, the Creed reunion does not mean an end to Stapp's solo career or Alter Bridge.

Creed was phenomenally successful with fans but didn't always fare as well with critics.  In addition to being panned by many critics as derivative, Stapp found himself embroiled in rows with Kid Rock over a homemade sex tape and also got into a war of words with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.

Few details about the new album are known.  The band is reported to be rehearsing for the tour as well as working on songs for a new record.
