Right now, you're on your laptop or perhaps a cell phone surfing the internet and have come across this article. You're probably indoors, nice and warm, maybe with a hot cup of coffee. You're relaxing and taking a break from your busy day. However, right now, while you're doing that, country star Jimmy Wayne is walking halfway across the country — from Nashville to Phoenix — raising money and awareness to stop our country's homeless problem. His total journey will be around 1,660 miles. His goal is to walk 20-25 miles every day, while sleeping outside in the cold.

“This situation is one we as a nation need to talk about because there is a fix,” Wayne said in a statement. “No one should be without a roof over their head and a warm place to sleep at night. But there are hundreds of thousands of kids in this country who are faced with exactly that problem. I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of people on my walk—I know what America is made of, and I know we can help these kids. It's amazing how something as simple as walking can influence many to take a stand.”

Jimmy Wayne plans to talk to his fans about his "Meet Me Halfway" campaign this Monday, January 11th at 9:00AM CT. Anyone can log onto the chat; all you need a computer. Go to this website and you're ready to go.

There's also a lot more information about the campaign at this site, including how to donate to the charities Jimmy's supporting: Homebase Youth Services and Monroe Harding. Homebase Youth Services helps homeless young adults (18-21) in Arizona. Monroe Harding is "the lead agency for the Middle Tennessee Collaborative, a group of child welfare agencies in the state."

Jimmy Wayne and his team have made it very easy to follow him on his journey; there's a map on the website showing exactly where he is. In addition, he's using both Twitter and Facebook, which he updates multiple times a day complete with pictures.

So, finish your coffee and go to Jimmy's "Meet Me Halfway" site. Check it out, perhaps make a donation if you can. What he is doing is truly amazing.
