From time to time I mention the hard core splendiferousness that is Thomas Mulready and friends’ Cool Cleveland, an online and email newsletter dedicated to the real nuts and bolts of arts, politics, and community activism in Northeast Ohio. Its value transcends the geographical area because it is a prime example of what community-based communication and activism can be.
In this week’s report they look at the economic impact of Playhouse Square, Cleveland’s underground economy, all kinds of arts reports, an interview with theatrical director Lester Thomas Shane, another with the great Ian Hunter (Cleveland Rocks, man), and this very kind mention:
- IM political debate Local website BlogCritics.org once again is on the forefront of innovative uses of the internet. When Eric Olsen founded the website, he had no idea it would grow into one of the Internet’s most trafficed blogs. Not only that, but content for the website is created by 587 contributors. This time, BlogCritics is pushing the envelop on political coverage, using Instant Messaging to conduct debates, then posting the transcripts to the website. Read the transcripts here, here and here.
