Cooking Crank for Allah

It worked for Hasan ibn al Sabbah 900 years ago and apparently it’s only become more effective with the advent of modern chemistry.

Reports are coming from Iraq that the Sadrist terrorists in Basra have taken to giving their soldiers a home cooked drug which goes by the street name of ‘pinky’. It’s loaded with methamphetamines and other goodies which make their fighters so amped up that death literally has no meaning to them and they’ll charge machine guns or throw themselves infront of moving vehicles to achieve instant martyrdom.

They seem to have discovered Al Sabbah’s ancient truth, that when fighting for a dubious cause against better trained and equipped enemies it helps to have followers who are too stoned to ask questions or notice how unpopular they are with their neighbors, and whose brains are so fried that they don’t quite get the connection between strapping on a bomb and the inevitable, remotely triggered and very messy death which follows.

The use of methamphetamines to create suicide soldiers is not unprecedented. In World War II the Nazis gave some soldiers a pill which combined methamphetamine, morphine and cocaine to lessen the effects of fatigue, pain and fear in battle.

Al Qaeda is a lot more traditional than the Sadrists. They stick with the tried and true methods the assassins used in the middle ages, so after they kidnap an involuntary suicide bomber candidate, they keep him stoned on Afghan opium for about a month and a half, brainwash him to within an inch of his life, and then when he can’t tell reality from the Quran and is already hallucinating his harem of afterlife virgins, they send him out in the latest explosive regalia of the cause and with a click of a car remote he does his duty for Allah.

The inevitable corollary to this is that both groups are bringing drugs into Iraq in massive amounts for their own use and to sell to finance their operations. Al Qaeda is bringing opium in from their contacts in Afghanistan and the Sadrists are importing methamphetamine and other prescription drugs from Syria for their own use and also for sale. Drugs are being processed into more potent forms in Iraq and then sold locally and shipped out for sale in neighboring countries. The money raised is used to pay for their ongoing terrorist efforts. As this problem grows larger the inevitable question has to be asked, does the drug traffic exist to support the terrorism or is the terrorism just a cover for the profits of the drug lords?

This is yet another reminder of what fine people these ‘freedom fighters’ are. They feel no compunction about spreading a plague of drugs through the Islamic world to fuel their ambitions, and no remorse about using drugged dupes to fight and die for them. The suicide bombers and terrorists aren’t martyrs for Allah, they’re just more victims of druglords with political aspirations. And what does it say about their leaders and their confidence in their holy cause that they don’t think anyone will die for them unless they drug them to the eyebrows?

Those who continue to support or excuse the terrorists might want to take a moment to think about these facts. Maybe they should consider what a lot of Iraqis are coming to realize, that these people are best understood by their actions not their words. A few quotes from the Quran can’t obscure the cowardice, greed and inhumanity which their every act betrays.

If I remember correctly doesn’t the word asassin(damn I wish I could spell) derive from the word in arabic meaning the hashish eaters? Although they must have been taking something a little more potent than anything I ever had, all that ever happened when I ate the stuff was that I’d fall asleep.

Gypsyman, you don’t eat hashish, you smoke it. Man, I thought you knew that! Gotta send a truth squad up to the Great White North. You guys drink too much! (just kidding!)

Yes, the derivation of the word assassin is from the Arabic for “hashish” – and I wonder how much the asshole that blew itself today in Netanya was using.

Yes, the word assassin comes from hashish.

I think that for a slower time the disassociation from reality provided by hashish was more valuable for an assassin, while in the modern age the complete fearlessness of meth seems to make sense.

But all in all, it seems like something from a Matt Helm novel.

Nothing is new in the world, is it? I’ve come to think that Islam makes no difference to these guys in Al Qaeda or the other terrorist orgs. They’re just using the religion angle as a shield & a front, to get the brainless citizenry at large to support them, either thru fear or zealotry, but religion really isn’t their interest: they just plain & simple live to fight. That’s it. They love war, they love the surge of power & the thrill of conspiracy & they love to kill. If there were no Americans to fight with, they’d fight with the Jews or Christians; lacking them, they’d fight with other Muslims; sans that, they’d fight with each other over some nitpicky thing or other. Whether it’s because they’re perpetually angry about something or it’s a macho shithead thing to do, this is their form of recreation & self-assertion. Ascribing their motives to something nobler is an exercise in futility & foolishness. I would here note in passing that their ancestors lived the same way: fighting was a pastime, and has been for the past 12,000 years, as archeological records & mythology prove. Which is why American attempts at peace-keeping, etc. in this region are also futile & foolish. These people are the quintessential barbarians, boiled down to its purest form. You can dress them up, but they will never be anything but barbarians, because that’s their instinct, that’s their culture, and that’s their upbringing. One could say they are a throwback to Primitive Times, but that would be an insult to peaceful, non-technologically advanced ‘primitive’ people (like the San) elsewhere in the world. Probably more accurate to call them savages. The rest of it is just window dressing or wishful thinking.

I think it’s more that they are fighting for power and perhaps even for wealth. The terrorism they launch is to create an environment in which they can steal, extort money and grab power over others – with the chance to be the next Saddam as the big prize if we don’t stop them.

That’s it. They love war, they love the surge of power & the thrill of conspiracy & they love to kill. So you’re suggesting it’s a cultural problem? That may get you accused of racism or some sort of bigotry. Surely their culture can’t be centered around violence, I mean come on – they may believe in stoning people to death and cutting off hands and heads – but they’re old and civilized people, right?

Ascribing their motives to something nobler is an exercise in futility & foolishness.

Or an exercise in self=promotion and CYA on their part.

I would here note in passing that their ancestors lived the same way: fighting was a pastime, and has been for the past 12,000 years, as archeological records & mythology prove.

Well, that’s true of all of our ancestors, really.

Which is why American attempts at peace-keeping, etc. in this region are also futile & foolish.

If only we still had some wild scotts or ghurkas to send in against them.

These people are the quintessential barbarians, boiled down to its purest form. Actually, I think it’s worse than that. If they WERE barbarians they”d be easier to deal with. The problem is that they aren’t. They come from an old and civilized culture which was ahead of the west in science and culture a thousand years ago. The problem is that in the thousand years since then they’ve been becoming more and more decadent and fragmented, and what you have left are the most degenerate elements of that old culture struggling against those who want to leave that ancient tradition behind and become part of the modern world.
