At the new Penguins home: Coke and Pepsi out; RC Cola in.

Cola Flap at Penguins’ New Arena

What a summer!

The Pirates, no longer content with mediocrity, are caught in a death struggle with the Orioles for the worst record in the major leagues, a struggle which at this point seems to be the only thing they are capable of winning. The Steelers are getting ready to open the season with Big Ben out for at least the first four games, and the starting quarterback still under wraps.

And now comes the news that when the new Penguins arena opens its doors, along with gourmet delights straight from the grill, they will be serving, not Coke, not even Pepsi—no, they will be serving RC Cola. RC Cola!

What with watered down soft drinks, anemic hot dogs, and stale roasted peanuts, sports concessionaires have been putting it to captive fans for years, but to saddle Pittsburghers with RC Cola takes chutzpah to a new level.

Wasn’t it Patrick Henry who said, “Give me Coke, or give me. . . .?”
