CNN is refusing to broadcast a rather shocking anti-landmine PSA which you can read about and see here. No point starting a discussion if you haven’t seen it, so check it out. Here’s a direct link to the video if you’re so inclined.

Why do they refuse to air it? Too explicit?

  • Yeah. And it is – damn explicit. It’s a one-minute PSA showing a group of American girls playing soccer, being cheered on by their parents, and then being blown up by a land mine. The tag line is kind of clunky but the imagery is heartrending. I can definitely see networks refusing to air it, at least during hours when children are viewing in large numbers.

  • The PSA aired Tuesday night on CBC Newsworld, the all news network run by Canada’s national public broadcaster. The CBC.ca servers can probably handle a great deal of traffic, so if the above URLs are down, check out the clip later today when they update the site — http://www.cbc.ca/thehour
