This year's list is an eclectic mix of metal (Black Sabbath), funky R&B (Janelle Monae), pop rock, hip-hop (Kevin Gates), folk rock gems (KT Tunstall), and a whole lot more.

Charlie Doherty’s Favorite 30 Songs of 2013

NIN-CameBackHauntedviaAmazonAs was the case last Friday with my Favorite Releases of 2013, I am putting together a big list of favorites yet again, this time for (official) singles or album tracks I dug throughout last year. Of course, January is always useful to stumble upon 2013 music that I somehow missed out on. Yeah I know it’s February but I’m glad I held off until now; otherwise, recent discoveries like (new) Johnathan Rice and Beware of Darkness wouldn’t have made this list had I published it earlier.

Though it represents just a small fraction of all the music I listened to last year, what you’ll see here is an eclectic mix of metal (Black Sabbath), funky R&B (Janelle Monae), pop rock, alternative rock, hip-hop (Kevin Gates), folk rock gems (KT Tunstall), and a whole lot more. Most of these songs you can easily find via searching YouTube, a band’s Bandcamp page, or both. So without any further delay, here’s my Favorite 30 Songs of 2013 (and in no particular order).
