Small Miracles for Shabby Minds
Victoria Hume
(Matter)

Part of the excellent band Moth that I saw last week this CD features some of the music that Moth performed. Its laid back trippy folk proggy tunnage that is pleasant on the ear and rather interesting to listen to. A bit more mellow than live, it does however show that oodles of talent the lovely Ms Hume possesses. My personal favourite is ‘Predict’, a song which truly demonstrates her talent as a songwriter and a singer. If you like the sound of the description of the music I wrote in the band review of last week, then this CD is for you. Its mixed and mastered very well, and some really rather professional for an indie label release. As I said in the gig review, give this Ms Hume and Moth some major label backing and they could go very far indeed. Ms Hume produces some refreshingly unique tunes that are a pleasure to hear. I looked forward to a full album from a suffiently backed Moth (since the band I saw live equals her in talent). Forgot the dull blathering of Katie Melua and the like; order yourself a copy of this and enjoy the mellow bliss of Victoria Hume.
