It wouldn’t feel like Halloween this year if I didn’t get a chance to view as many of these flicks as possible before the goblins, ghouls, and ghosts start their sinister shenanigans.

The 1955 film Rififi should be screened and studied by every screenwriter and filmmaker. It is a near perfect example of a heist flick.

This release won't bore you to distraction.

It fits perfectly in with any other film noir of this era and is an excellent addition to one's library.

Effortlessly cool and smooth crime dramas from a Japanese master that prove great storytelling on film does not require either color or sound.

This is what you will likely find me watching this weekend

SXSW hosted the premier of the restored classic, The Breakfast Club, written and directed by John Hughes. But the event wasn't so much a premier as it was a celebration of a movie that has touched a generation or two. With its upcoming special theatrical showings and release to Blu-ray and video, it is sure to touch a few more. When the doors opened, we were given Breakfast Club t-shirts and treated to a breakfast of donuts, coffee and mimosas. Thank you, Universal Studios.
