Mr. Trump apparently tapped into this deep-seated, Southern brand of rancor and resentment – the feelings of hatred, bigotry, misogyny, and yes, racism, too, whether overt or covert – in short, the ugliness of it all! – and in the process, unleashed the beast within, the worst in our already tarnished (white) nature. The rest is history.

Although liberals treat Donald Trump's election as a blow to their cause, it is actually a boon in disguise – provided they maneuver things right.

If only someone had miraculously turned back the clock to the good ol' days of slavery, or at least to the pre-Civil Rights era, everything would have been just fine. No one was complaining back then, not even the poor whites, for they were still far better off than the blacks and the rest of us who had trickled in afterwards.

I’m ashamed to be an American, an Italian-American, a Hispanic-American, an African-American, what have you. If there’s got to be an “American” suffix to complete the descriptor of my national identity, then I have to resign myself from now on to wear it as a badge of dishonor; and so should you!

With the passage of Proposition 67, California became the first state to ban single-use plastic grocery bags. It also requires most stores to charge shoppers 10 cents for either reusable plastic bags or paper bags. The idea is to manipulate people into using cloth totes to carry home their groceries. Hooray for the environment? Maybe.

To all the college students, celebrities, protesters, and social justice warriors crying over the election, let's get one thing straight: you aren't as special as you think you are. Get over it.

The economic divide exploded into the sunlight with the ascendance of the Tea Party movement, identified more or less with the right wing, and the Occupy movement on the left. The difference between those two phenomena was more cultural than philosophical.

If you are feeling like I am right now, you are dreading the inevitable holiday dinner sit down that could possibly turn into something like a wrestling cage match.

"Man up." What a curious phrase to use in the context of a wave of accusations of sexual harassment and assault.

Hillary Clinton shouldn't expect to score major political points by implying, or even showing, that Donald Trump doesn't pay his personal income taxes. It just puts him in a place where we all, at least on some level, wish we could be.
