In a press release, MonkeyPaw Games recently announced the return of the original 1982 classic BurgerTime, with BurgerTime HD. However, don’t let the name fool you, it isn’t the re-release you might think it is. This is actually a new game built on the ideas introduced by the original. Fans of the original will be getting an all-new experience, while newcomers to the game will be introduced to it properly on a current-generation platform in high definition.

The formula will be familiar, with the game featuring the classic gameplay of putting together hamburgers while fighting off the forces of condiment evil, as well as wieners and spices. Only now, virtual chefs will be doing everything in a brightly-colored 3D world, giving players multiple options when deciding on their desired path to the next burger. Strategy will be as important as ever with level obstacles and an array of paths to choose from.

Add to this the fact that the game will include four-player online and split-screen couch multiplayer modes, and will introduce even more scrumptious ingredients, and you have a title that is really creating an appetite of anticipation. Help Chef Peter Pepper take on the hungry bosses, pepper shakers, and the yolk-of-a-boss, the incredible, edible Mr Egg. “It’s been 29 years since the original debut and now BurgerTime is back and much better than ever. By creating unique platform features while faithfully retaining the original gameplay, BurgerTime HD will redefine retro evolution,” said John Greiner, President of MonkeyPaw Games. “We also love the fact that playing the game makes our team really hungry.”

This new version of the title also features an all-new circular level design and incredible puzzle-platforming that will please gamers of all ages. Combine all the new elements of this title with tasty bosses, interesting power-ups, and a series-first multiplayer mode, and hungry players will not only satisfy a rumbling stomach, but will definitely go back for more. MonkeyPaw Games is also catering to all crowds by releasing BurgerTime HD on Xbox LIVE Arcade, Playstation Network, Nintendo’s WiiWare, and PC. Look for it this summer 2011 and get your tastebuds ready.
