I decided to go radio only in this week’s Blues Power Rankings because the Billboard charts this week just didn’t have much in the way of movement compared to where they’ve been the past few weeks. You could say the same thing looking at the top three in radio but things get interesting after that. Lucky Peterson’s You Can Always Turn Around has been on the charts since its release but it makes a real nice surge up the list this week into the top five, rounded out by Grammy-nominee Charlie Musselwhite and his latest, The Well.
My blues brother extraordinaire, John Taylor, has a good review of James Kinds’ Delmark Records debut Love You From The Top. I’ve started working on my review but while you wait, check out what he had to say about our #23 record on this week’s chart.
I spent a lot of time this week listening to JJ Grey & Mofro, mostly their latest Georgia Warhorse which is on the chart this week and has been a steady performer. I’ve fallen so much in like with that one I also grabbed a copy of Orange Blossoms. Reviews are not exactly in draft mode but I’ve mentally etched out some notes. One of these days I’m going to handcuff myself to this Macbook Pro and stay that way until I get all these things written.
