Not often do I come across an Internet comedy sketch that is witty and hilarious enough to deserve a review of its own.
The Internet has revolutionized and irrevocably altered the world of comedy. We have far more comedians now than we ever had before, targeting a massive potential viewer base. It is a crowded world catering to some of the most caustic and critical audiences alive. Every joke ever told has been comprehensively cataloged on the Internet, making originality important — both in content and presentation. Audiences tend to get desensitized to humor far more easily, and comedians need to think out of the box to be able to make their viewers laugh. But it still is hard to find wit amidst most of the masquerading trash on the World Wide Web.
The new comedy over at is called "A Trailer for Every Academy Award Winning Movie Ever!" by the Internet video comedy group BriTANicK. It was released on March 5, 2010. With the Oscars just around the corner, it is expected that comedians will start with their annual rounds of jokes inspired by the Academy Awards and all the absurdities it brings along with it. BriTANicK starts by creating the perfect trailer for an Academy Award-winning film.
It is two and a half minutes of brutal satire, almost along the lines of "Oscar Bait" by The Chaser's War on Everything, but far more inclusive in showing almost every cliche that any Academy Award-winning film has aspired to portray. It is amusingly accurate and pleasantly refreshing — intelligent comedy that is cutting satire, and not just average run-of-the-mill humor.
