The Duke On "The Flesh And Blood Compendium"

The Duke On The Flesh And Blood Compendium

Edited by Harvey Fenton

When one decides to hand ones life over to the pursuit and subsequent rehabilitation of the bizarre, the unpleasant, and the downright crazy as an ether-riddled motherfucker, one has to be prepared for certain unpleasant surprises.

Maybe it's the bit in City Of The Living Dead when a woman pukes her intestines out. Maybe it's the singing rectum in John Waters' Pink Flamingos. Or maybe it's that you order a book by the name of Flesh And Blood Compendium on account of it has some wonderful articles on Pasolini's Salo and Peter Jackson's Braindead, and then it arrives and you find scarcely a page goes by without very large, very detailed, very uncensored, in fact, almost fucking gynaecological depictions of folks with arses in the air, willy's hanging out, and women getting all too familiar with a snake or two.

In short, if you ever wanted to read an in-depth article about the artistic merits of Edward Penishands, then this here is the book for you.

In shorter still, this is wonderful.

Now, let me explain a little bit right here and now, before you go thinking The Duke is some kind of porn-devouring deviant or some such. I have never, bar perhaps five minutes when I was 15 years old, had any desire to watch folks sexing. Sure, friends and so on all yacked about this great video they got, what has folks sexing left and right and sometimes using industrial-strength dildos and so on, but I always kind of preferred something a bit less, well, embarrassing. Even nude scenes tend to get The Duke all fed-up fairly quickly.

Unless, of course, the delightful Kirsten Dunst were to be involved.

But I digress.

The reason I reveal to you my immense dislike of pornography as viewing and / or reading material, is to illustrate how insane it would be for me to enjoy a book positively foaming at the mouth with the close ups and the "beaver shots" and so on. The reason for my glorious recommendation of this here collection, is on account of the stuff beside, above, below or wrapped around the sundry nakedness on display. These things are known as The Words, or The Text. Perhaps even The Body Of The Article, although in this case the body of the article would appear to be the young man being orally pleasured to the left of the page.

The articles herein are brilliant, and if you can put up with the breasts and the occasional highly explicit leg-parting, then there is much to enjoy. Flesh And Blood contains articles about such malarkey as the Prosthetic Porn, for example, a short-lived trend in the mid-nineties for genitals on arms and such, as in Edward Penishands, or perhaps even on the end of one's nose, as in the highly creative Cyrano.

Glad to hear El Senor Duke you are trying your best to corrupt these kids. I will say in all honesty the film Cruising was one of the biggest piles of shit I ever did see. After watching that film I was ready to either take a bath in bleach or watch Godzilla vs the Smog Monster - anything to purify my soul.

Ironically, I loved Crash, but I think we all know Mr. Cronenberg is in touch with the demented pervert in us all........brilliant director that Canadian man.

As for an article on Jack the Ripper films, I would love to read something about that......my fav Ripper film is Murder By Decree, in which Sherlock and Watson traipse into the fog after the mighty madman.......with Pandora's Box a close second (heroine killed by Mr. Ripper during the film's conclusion).....

Someone told me about a recent article on Bigfoot movies/films in a current mag.......which pisses me off because that was going to be my next post......I shall track down mag/issue and forward on......
