So, remember that Duke University lacrosse rape case? Remember how they were cleared of all charges and the only reason it really got any traction was because a politically ambitious district attorney forced the issue? Yes, that case.
No, Duke lacrosse players didn't forcibly tag team a stripper they hired. But the aforementioned stripper, who made the accusations on three men who were indicted then ultimately cleared, remember her? Well, she's writing a book about it.
In what will make Miley Cyrus's upcoming memoir look like The Audacity Of Hope, get ready for The Last Dance For Grace; The Crystal Mangum Story will be, according to the release, "the only definitive account of the life and struggles of the woman at the center of the Duke Lacrosse case, the alleged accuser."
The error-rife press release from some entity called Fire Filmz goes on to say that there has been a lot of nasty things written about her, but beyond the rape accusations she is a "bright young woman from Durham, North Carolina, who has had a difficult life." Well, except for that one grievous error in judgment, she's not half bad!
Let's get a couple things out of the way. If Ms. Mangum says she is a girl who lived a hard live and is an intelligent, well-liked person, I have no quarrels with that and will not contradict anything. But unless she didn't actually attempt to accuse people of a rape that didn't happen, and puts that as the lone sentence of the memoir, then I'm not particularly interested in picking it up.
I am, however, a little curious about this Fire Filmz group. Their website tells me this isn't their full time job, and they don't have a lot of experience handling PR stuff, as signified by their shoddy press release and the fact that two months ago they denied a blogger the chance to review the book. Perhaps they want to keep, until the release date, the long lost secret that Mike Nifong made an Arthur Slugworth-type proposal to Mangum if she brought an NCAA lacrosse program to their proverbial knees.

Absolutely 100% correct. Why would anyone want to read something that, no doubt, contains MORE lies!!! Suckers!

Less than 2% of reported rapes are false. Just because there were snags in the road doesn't mean she lied...evidenced more by her unwillingness to let it go. A book no one asked for? I would ask for it. I found this article highly unfair and somewhat condescending.

I agree with the second post. Just because there were snags in the road, doesn't mean she lied. Just like all criminal cases, none of them are perfect because we weren't born to be perfect people but ones that can learn from our mistakes. Look for the video based on Mangum's press conference soon here. Also, youtube, google and yahoo video.

There is another not so rare demonstration of how identity politics plays out in liberal media in progress.
Reasonable people notice these differences.
