Summer 2008 Political Fiction, Real World and Otherwise - Page 3

There are two novels that belong to the fantasy sub-genre called Sword and Soul. One is Meji, written by Milton Davis. And the other is Imaro, written by the great Black Canadian writer Charles Saunders. The Sword and Soul genre of fantasy are stories that mix the traditional fantasy ideals with African cultures. In Meji, the story is about twin brothers – abomination in their jungle culture. Their father, a chieftain, is not thrilled about the birth but what he doesn’t know is that destiny and the ancestors have plans for the boys. The other book, Imaro, is also about an African kingdom. It is also a great classic about a warrior who is embattled by sorcerers and rejected by his people. Both books are fun, and for those who only read European fantasy, these are great forays into culture.

The longest book in this list and the longest in the fantasy section is Time Masters, Book One: The Call by Geralyn Beauchamps. This one’s an epic. So if you want to fill your senses with a world and stay in that world for a long time, this is the book for you. It’s a time travel story and takes place in three different time zones. The hero time-master-in-training has got to find the woman he is fated to marry. The only problem is that she does not live in his time... and she thinks an ancient highlander is a bit odd. A fun book.

Hope you find something on this list you might consider.

My novel of political intrigue, THE ATKINSEN TICKET, was published in April, 2008.
A president's reaction to polarization in DC and scandal threatens his reelection and his life. His choice of new running mate puts the 12th Amendment in play.
I'd be happy to send Carole or the editor a copy of the book.
