Lonely Planet

Well, I've checked out lots of other travel books on Germany, and this one seems to be the best.

I like to travel for cheap. Cheap things are harder to find than expensive things. THe expensive things find you.

This Lonely Planet book tells you all kinds of cheap places to stay and eat-very valuable.

It also has information about a lot of places. Others (frommers, Fodor's) didn't seem to have entries on as many sites.

And if you want to get off the beaten track, it helps to have a little more 411. THis one did a good job.

Plus...it had pictures. I like pictures. It gets me excited about the trip. You don't want too many pictures, because what you really need is facts about stuff. But you want just a few, just to have an idea.

This one seemed to be the best balance.

I think Lonely Planet writes the best travel guides around with useful information and a wide range of options for most budgets.

What is really fun for a look at how others see you is get the Lonely Planet book for your region.

I was in Hong Kong, and browsed the LP for Canada, in particular, Montreal to discover that Montreal's international claim to fame was apparently the large per capita ratio of strip clubs to residents.
