Lady Godiva's ride

On this day in history, May 31, 1057(?) Lady Godiva rode nekkid through the streets of Coventry as a tax protest. A nekkid tax protesting chick has to be the perfect idol for a good red-blooded libertarian such as myself.

It even inspired an odd adult book by Dr. Seuss, The Seven Lady Godivas: The True Facts Concerning History's Barest Family
. It was apparently his only work of prose, and involved a really curious parody of the whole iconographic story, with multiple Lady Godivas. It's worth checking out even just on general principles as a Seuss document.
